Technical Lower radiator hose 322 in a 1932 Ford. What did you use.

I've had good luck bending wires to find radiator hoses, and it worked today for the upper hose, but I struck out at Oreillys, Advance, and Napa on a nice fitting lower (maybe because places don't stock much anymore) . I know there are quite a few 32 Fords built with Nailhead Buicks. So what part number hose did you use. I'd like to get it done without splicing a hose. I'm using a Walker with a 1 3/4 lower outlet.

I've also been staring at lower hoses on cars with lower left exit waterpumps (69 Ford Bronco, Land Rover 215, 56 Buick) any other ideas would be helpful!

A part number would be really helpful.

That will keep me busy for awhile.....I'll be like Rainman when I'm done. 20338.....definitely 1-1/2 16.5 Inches long fits 84 Ford .... One year only.

 

I used a P-trap from under the sink, cut to fit and soldered it together and two straight hoses. I'll look for a photo. Worked for 12 years.The car is in Finland now.

 

Yes, post up some pics, I like repurposed stuff. I thought about copper, stainless or aluminum tubing.

 

Can't be a lot of help, using a US Radiator with a 1 1/2" lower outlet, so the hose I am using isn't a help. That 1 3/4 lower outlet will make it more fun.

Ended up with a splice, but hoping that by using a " Gates® PowerGrip Hose Clamps " the splice will blend in appearance wise. These are a "use one time" heat shrink clamp, similar to heat shrink for electrical wire.

Using a NAPA 7343 hose and a Gates 32948 PowerGrip clamp. After searching for a brass hose coupler, talked to the guys in one of the older rad shops in town, he advised using a PVC barbed hose coupler, well within it's ratings. Removing the center ridge to get a better fit at that point.

Just another idea.

Rainman - now that made me laugh! I've used the "power grip" clamps on a 2 piece hose. I bought an aluminum 90 off $Bay. The PVC or copper 90 idea is better though...

The part number I listed is what is called out for an SBC running a Zips water pump riser. It may work for your application / flipping it over / opposite of how it goes on an SBC. It's longer than a "normal" SBC hose - maybe allowing you to trim to fit?

Stop by with some beer, and I'll give you a copper 90.

 

Doubt this helps much but here you go anyway...322 in a 32 frame. Also using a Walker rad.

EDIT: Thinking about it, one difference you will see is that we moved the front crossmember forward 1.5 inches to create space as the nailhead is so long. That lessens the issue re the hose and sharp turns etc.

 

Thanks for the tips guys. Web65 I see you ran universal hoses. Those look traditional, probably more trad than a formed hose, but I've always been a little leary on stress on the radiator as they seem stiff...I might be overthinking it.

 

You can,t see it to well.When I have some time I'll mockup a P-trap.

 

425 to Walker radiator. - Upper hose is a NAPA ECR NBH 7634. Fits right in place with just a bit of trimming. Here is a mock up of a lower hose made with Speedy Bill hard parts. Finished in black with proper clamps it is serviceable until I get a molded hose in place.

 

That is what I would have suggested ^^^, I have used P traps to make up hoses a bunch of times over the years.

 

I ended up with a good fitting hose, and need to give a young kid at O'reillys credit for helping and finding it.

It's off a Dodge minivan / Plymouth voyager , I'll have to follow up with the part number. It's 1.5 in h both ends but with a little petro jelly it went on the lower outlet nice.

Would be great is you could post the number of that lower hose.

Like the look of a one piece hose rather that splicing together two pieces as I was going to do.

Also, what did you use for the top hose? I was going to run two 45s and a piece of tubing, but yours looks a lot cleaner.

Finished lower hose from Post #13 in 3 piece configuration with rigid silicone rubber and metal elbow. Elements hold up to the water pump suction without collapsing. No drama.

 

These worked great on my 364. Truck is apart for paint, but you get the idea.

 

The upper hose is gates 22484 with a few inches trimmed off the left side of the image


The lower hose is Gates 22006 with the one of the 90 degree bends trimmed off on the right

The Gates #22006 is known as an NBH #8693 in NAPA speak. It is manufactured by Gates for NAPA Auto Parts. Window sticker is about $15.00

Bump for reference. Good tip here for nailhead to 32 radiator. Just the tech I can only find on HAMB.
