Good luck with your fight, Bud. The fact that you drive rather than garage it is what makes all the diff in the world. That's what they were built for. I see chips on dudes's rides, including mine, and I consider that seniority. Again, good luck in your fight, and keep on a knockin'.

[IMG]Here's what a home town friend was driving to high school in '62. Not a great picture due to its age. '49 coupe with a hopped up flathead. Just what I want to put together except with the hopped up 324 Olds sitting in my garage.

Lots of those old Fords got hopped up. I was seeing them with full house flattys ( or as close as budget allowed) when I was in high school in the late '60s. Olds and Cadillac are good candidates for engines in those, both seem to be a fairly easy swap. I have seen a few over the years with Fords and the occasional SBC but when we were buying someone's old hot rod to cruise I saw more olds and caddys then anything else.

Good engine choice my friend.

Late 60's racy Flat heads nonexistent around here probably gone by late 50's...by 62' all the early 50's Fords were getting OHV olds, potiac, caddy, etc...Mostly kept stock as the rear ends took a beating, very few guys went the whole route, most just went for the wow factor of an OHV ...

Thanks PnB. Along with the dual four 324 Olds I've accumulated the hurst front mounts for a 49 - '53 Ford, a starter side to side changeover adapter, and a cragar aluminum bell housing adapter to a '50s - early '60s Ford 4 speed. It'll be a while before any of this comes together. Got other projects to get finished first before I can drag another one home

  10. Glad to see this one raised. Now we just need to raise @Jeem. Looks like he's been absent for awhile..

'46 Buick we're working on. Jeem helped with the styling...

  11. Send it up here, I'll wrench it for you. I'm slow but I always have been. :D
The newer rocket was a common swap into early '50s fords too. nothing like shoebox Vic with a 394 in it. :D I friend had one that smoked a bit and started and run every day. he said it hauled ass and I said it smoked because it hauled too many asses. but you absolutely could not kill it, just keep it oiled and gassed and it was good.

Love how the factory '55 150 Utility is a perfect example. Stance it a touch, hop up the motor, and off you go!

This one has always been a favorite. ALMOST gasser, but not running a straight axle.

And the Falfa car, which often plagues my mind...

  21. Don't know if this one has been posted already. Lots of pictures are not showing up because of photobucket. I thought photobucket was allowing the lost photos to show up? They don't on my computer. 5bfaf81634a2ead63a5e299b5d89eb06--s-sweet-cars.jpg

And a few blocks away from the blue coupe was this black '50. They were class mates in the class of '63 at North Tonawanda (NY) High School.
