Customs Aerodynamic whatzit spotted in Tampa ('30s Ford based)?

One of my fellow modelers on the MCM forum spotted this thing in Tampa a few days ago - I'm seeing Ford wide-fives underneath; anyone know more about it?

Body looks to be mostly hand formed, however, the windshield post looks like it may have been sourced from a 54ish Kaiser C post...

 

Kinda reminds me of Bucky Fuller's Dymaxion.
Interesting, oddball, and yes it appears to be early 30s Ford based.

 

That gentleman has been on the HAMB with a number of interesting one-off vehicles!

 

Dammit, just read through that person's forum and then lost the link.

I think he's based somewhere near Zephyrhills. Collects and restores oddballs.

 

Looks like an early effort at a streamlined rear engine car that was never finished. Popular Mechanics showed several such in the thirties and forties. The wraparound windshield looks like early fifties at the earliest. They did not come in until 1955 or so but as Hot points out, it could be a rear window turned around and they started in the early fifties.

 

That is a Dymaxion, and belongs to Geoff Hacker , the guru of Forgotten Fiberglass - as well as some metal things . I'm sure he will comment.....he is on the HAMB.

Streetuse. The "cars of the future" were streamlined teardrops in the 30s (and sometimes later). Most were destroyed during the wartime scrap effort to recover metal for the war effort. Just a few survive. I have another one - smaller one - too - that Hemmings has written about. Here's the inspiration used by the designer / builder - Ronald Gougeon - to build this streamliner:

What's wrong with the motor, sounds like it's missing bad.

 

It was the first day we got it running. Tune up and carb adjustment was done after this first run.

 

He lives a few blocks from me. I've spoken with him a few times, but don't really know him. He does have some cool stuff
