Scott once you finish the wheel wells you wont have a rust bucket, why would you want a southern car and have to start all over.

    That's one's opinion

Got the Speedometer cluster back from Rusty at Speedo Service today... It will be nice to get rid of that annoying squeal & needle bounce...!

Also have the hood close, have a spot to give a once over underneath screens. Then I think it's ready for paint... God I hope it turns out...! ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1429656433.550998.jpg
Decided to put hood in back of truck, damn it's windy today!

And that was pre-Hemi I believe....they mention the 413 in the ad.

Don't let your guard down against those Mopar wedges though....just ask 62furious.;)

No clue....it hasn't been on the road since 1977. I paid $500 for it and it has the title too.

The first 426 Hemi that knew of in the Manitowoc area was called (Blue Blood) a 64 Plymouth
owned by Dennis Odie. I think the Hemi went in about 1966?

Any one remember this car running at W.I.R. or Da Grove?

Grumpy neutered plenty of Hemis back in the day:p 158123940_bill-grumpy-jenkins-666-grumpys-toy-bw-8x10-glossy-photo.jpg 67victorycircle.jpg

  24. You look like you been sniffing to much rust man.

  25. Artificial lungs, and oxygen bearing fuel will make a roaring Lion out of a Black n Decker fish tank engine. So no crutches, naturally aspirated engines, the baddest traditional Hemi I know of, is current Super Stockers @ NHRA legal 440-442" make 1025 or so HP. That's 2.3 to 2.35 HP per cubic inch. Baddest wedge small Chevys can make 2.65-2.85 HP per inch, that's over 800 HP out of 290 " SBC. The even nastier splayed valve versions are in the 2.95-3.0 HP range, that's 1200HP @ 400 inches. Said it last year around this same time, and saying it again. X-Racer.., your case is dismissed.

X-racer,take a look through every issue of SuperStock and Drag Illustrated
Published in the 1965 season, and it will pain you to see that the Hemis got their ass handed to them royally by the shiny new "90 day wonder",aka Ford's SOHC 427 in the A/FX Mustangs and Comets.
You can say what you want, and try to re-write history till the cows come home, but you can't change the fact that the Hemi could not run with the Cammer in A/FX.
That's why the Mopar altered wheelbase cars came to be:Cause at legal NHRA class weight (3300lbs),and legal stock wheelbase, the Hemi Mopars could not run with the Fords.
So they slanted things in their favour by running radically lightened bodies and severely altered wheelbases.

I'd try to defend the Pontiacs but GM bailed out in 1963. It is interesting of all the engines that WERE to come down the pipe if the race ban hadn't happened. Beswick ran Pontiacs till around 1969 when he had depleted all his Poncho inventory and had to switch to Hemis.
