Went to look at a 38 ford pickup and couldn't help but notice this through some broken boards where two barns connected. Owner painted it in the early 70's and been just sitting more or less since then. Its got a long long way to go but fun for now and ready for Torquefest next month. Did a 8.8 diff swap with disc brakes, front brake disc conversion, and some wheels and tires for now. Also all new coolant system, brakes, and fuel system.

So anyway its got some ugly but I like it anyway. Not so many chances left to do something like this with my dad so I better take advantage while I can.

  2. Very kewl. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go find some barns to dig through...

  3. Hell yeah! The hacked core support is worth replacing. It ties the tops of the fenders together and the front end will flex without the complete brace. Great find!

  4. I have some vintage (stamped in the 1950's) lower body patch panels for that car if you need them.

Cool car, looks good all cleaned up. The vinyl interior is cool too. The wheels that were on it were probably late 80's or early 90's vintage, so I doubt it sat there untouched since the 70's, but regardless, looks much better without them.

  8. That's real cool. I grew up in southeast Iowa and wish I could go back in time and pick up some of the old cars I ran across as a kid in farmers barns....cool stuff.

Was the fiberglass on the rear quarters used to lighten the car?
    Sorry I couldn't resist.
Nice find, will make a great car!

We built a brace out of some scrap. I just didn't have a picture of it. Thanks for the advice though!

That's a line-loc. Stab the brakes, hit a button inside, let go of the brakes and the fronts are locked.

Nice find, I recall about 20 years ago there were a bunch of tri-fives lined up behind a motorcycle shop East of town. Wonder if this is from that collection?
