It's all looking good Eric but I'm a little concerned about the use of the poly, it has a very bad reputation for micro blistering.
I assume the pics are setup as no masks etc ???

What about finding a pair of something the 50s fastbacks use? It seems like everyone uses those tear drop ones

 

dont move them just french them in a lil bit

 

You could just slightly recess them to make up the difference. Might be a quick and easy solution to the problem. good luck.

 

I'd love to see you try something other than '39 Ford (or the other perennial favorite; '59 Caddy) taillights.

 

They are a bit overdone... How about '46-48, '49-50 Ford? Or '48 Chev?

 

ok I am biased...but the 40-48 chrysler tailights fit nicely in the curve

 

Thanks Steve. I've also read that somewhere, but my guys guarantee it won't blister. According to them, it's all in the preparation/application. On top of that, they sprayed it very finely, and after another round of sanding, there's less than a hair thickness of it left on the car. I trust that my guys know what they're doing!

I know that they are being used quite a bit, but I like the simple shape of them......

I did think about that, but feel it just won't fit the simplicity of the car/shape.

Thanks for the advise! It would create a "flat" spot in the curve of the fender though. I think that by moving them down, the curvature of the fender will be accented more when looking side on.

Good thought, but perhaps a little too much of a good thing.

Man, just go with your instinct . That way you wont be saying, damn I should have done my own thing instead of another's idea . You know you would not be satisfied.Get it done, move on and let's get this thing painted !!! Were waiting !

 

It's all in the sealing Eric, if it's baked well and sealed with a couple of coats of epoxy primer it should be fine, I'm sure your right

The poly is in the process of being sanded and will be sealed once the dust has cleared.

The right front fender required a little extra work, so it was taken off, in order to get the proper attention.

Haha, it certainly does Leo! But the first camo is already gone, as the sanding process has started once again. Today I'm going to drill out all the holes for the exterior stainless trim. I'm sure there must be 70-80 of them!

Spent the whole morning carefully drilling out all the exterior trim holes.....all 58 of them. Now only need to re-locate the rear lights and do some work on the hood. The final sanding on the body has now been completed. Getting closer to finally seeing some colour!

 

Here's a full shot of how the car is looking now.

Thanks Antti. The end is near. Still trying to be patient, but seriously can't wait to witness the first color being applied.....

 

I think we are all waiting for the color now. This is a great thread and has been some motivation for the 40 Plymouth I just purchased. Keep up the incredible work.
