Well... It should arrive by the weekend. There's no telling what direction this may lead just yet, but it will likely get paint, stance, and a four speed to go with the 50 flattie that's in it currently. Otherwise, it retains a mostly stock underpinning.

Enjoy it. I enjoy my 39 standard.

  3. Well paint is a personal thing but looking at the pics I cannot imagine that it needs paint very bad. Maybe some taste pinn stripes?

The 4 gear sounds like a winner, it isn't early as street roddy as the common 5 speed. Nice looking car I am sure that whatever you do will only make it more yours.

Turns out photographer was a pro... Pictures are wayyy better than it really is. Nonetheless, it's going to be a fun adventure

Not sure; this will be the first time that keeping the torque tube or not will not have been made for me. If I can gain 10-15 mph with something that fits the stock tube I'll likely go that route. If not... ??? No telling

You might need a rear gear change.

  11. Please dont ruin it,,,Leave the stock tranny in it,,,it will take you anywhere you want to go at comfortable speed

Sure looks nice the way it sits. Unless those photos are hiding something I'd just drive it and have fun. Nothing sweeter than 39 Ford standard... except a Deluxe!

Funny, I always wanted a 1940 Ford Deluxe coupe as a kid. Ended up with a 39 Deluxe and loved it more.

  18. I never like the pointed nose on the 40 Deluxe- bought a 1939 and owned 24 years- my wife wishes I still had it but we'll make due with our current 46-

Yaknow.. I had the same opinion on the nose. Something a bit more elegant about this one. It almost seems like you might see a guy wearing a fedora and suit driving it; with a set of flamethrowers on the back

Yeah I'm ready! Was delivered and accepted by my buddy yesterday... But I'm visiting family; and drawing up a parts list

That is a sweet old gal! You can't beat the style of a Coupe!!

  22. Repaint it the same color? Personally, I really like that color.
Photos can be deceiving, but it looks too good for repaint unless you are building a show car.

What color is that? I had a '46 Ford painted in '68 with what I was told was '66 Olds Toronado Copper, a 1 yr only and Toronado only color. Recently I started trying to find that paint, no such thing listed in paint info. The color was very similar to the color on your '39.

  24. Just seeing this thread for the first time. Sweet find. Keep us updated on the progress. Other than a stance adjustment, I don't think I'd find much to "change".

The '39-40 coupes look awesome from the ass end, I like the look of the '39 deluxe/'40 standard front end over the '37-'39 but that coupe will be cool with a dumped front end, big & littles and a nice mellow dual exhaust note. www look nice with the caps & beauty rings
