"I love all the photos taken in the pits and staging lanes. Just think of all the people in the stands (*and the pits) with cameras. All those photos are out there somewhere in shoeboxes or envelopes, probably never to be seen again!"

So true Vern, the images really are 'out there.' The two times (Bristol '66 'Springnationals and York '70 'Summernationals,' that I went to major NHRA events (just to spectate). At least 2 out of 10 folks were snapping photos or shooting footage with their 8mm cameras. My own 8mm footage languished in a shoe box for almost 50 years until good-guy Jim Amos ('Bee On Video') graciously offered to convert it to DVD for me. The disk turned out great, the only problem is that the 'stills' 'pulled' from the disc are (usually) 'fuzzy' ... see example of my '58 *tow car (*for my 35 street rod) @ Capitol in 1965.

    PS:
Here's (again, pulled from 8mm movie-film footage) a shot of my '35 (early 'street rod') that I mentioned in my last post. Taken the same day. (FYI street Atlas 'Bucrons,' stone stock 265 3-speed w/ 'Hedman Headers') ... street differential ... 15. 0000s! about 90mph.

  12. Larry Chambers of Memphis TN still owns this car. It is back on the street and I see him every year at Memphis Super Chevy.

11046420_926536870700836_3401989315856516188_n.jpg Wonder if this is the same Hutter that went on to run some fast M/P and Pro/Stock cars?

What year was the pic of the Thumper '57 taken? There was a kid in high school in '68 who had a car that looked JUST like that but with no lettering.
