Customs shoebox coupe build.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by glendale, Feb 27, 2015.

  1. So I started looking for a flathead powered car over the summer. I started looking for a 40's sedan.my rules were had to fit the family so a back seat was a must and I wanted a car I would not want to chop.So while browsing craigslist the shoebox popped up I called the guy and traded my galaxie for it.this was before thanksgiving. The deal was made and I had to wait until after the holidays for it to get here.I have the car about a week now I am super happy with it and can't wait to get started on it.Any way here are the pics.

here is a picture from the add.

Looks better already with the rear lowered. Love the coupe roof style.

  4. My favorite is the '51. My '51 also has the '49-50 tail lights added. Simple changes add a lot to these cars.

oh yea! Great taste. How's it run?

  6. it has a new radiator and brakes so it actually runs and drives pretty nice. I have not registered it yet so it has just been around the block a few times.
thanks I plan on lowering the front a little this weekend. 51's have a lot of neat features but the tailigh are not one.49-50 look so much better.

  7. Very very nice start. Just can't go wrong with a shoe. Aerostar springs for the front and off you go.

  8. tedley I already have them. my friend.with any luck at all they will be installed Saturday

  9. cool, should look like this when finished. This is with 275x15 tires. morden 014 011 (Medium).JPG

  21. Looks great. I usually cut one coil off the aerostar springs just for that little bit extra drop.

  23. It should settle just a bit more with time. Looks good.

  24. I really like how it sits I hope it does not settle much.

Love what you are doing and glad you are keeping the flatty. Is it overdrive?

  27. thanks man I am very happy with the stance and really like the wheel.

It is not an overdrive but I have picked up one.I also have another 8ba so the plan is to slowly build the new 8ba and overdrive and then swap both at the same time.

Really love your car...the stance is just right....not slamed. I lowered mine with 4" de-arched springs (Jamco) and 3" blocks.
