So I started looking for a flathead powered car over the summer. I started looking for a 40's sedan.my rules were had to fit the family so a back seat was a must and I wanted a car I would not want to chop.So while browsing craigslist the shoebox popped up I called the guy and traded my galaxie for it.this was before thanksgiving. The deal was made and I had to wait until after the holidays for it to get here.I have the car about a week now I am super happy with it and can't wait to get started on it.Any way here are the pics. here is a picture from the add. 00O0O_8JGjqTZNHpa_600x450 - Copy by glendale2004, on Flickr 00c0c_UhobN3zHsj_600x450 - Copy by glendale2004, on Flickr the day it showed up. 20150212_093528 - Copy by glendale2004, on Flickr 20150212_094340 - Copy by glendale2004, on Flickr my youngest digs it.. 20150212_174219 - Copy by glendale2004, on Flickr IMG_20150212_174929 by glendale2004, on Flickr and in that picture you can see the foxcraft skirts I had bought before the car got here.speaking of parts before the car showed up here is some more of the stash. My favorite is the '51. My '51 also has the '49-50 tail lights added. Simple changes add a lot to these cars.
it has a new radiator and brakes so it actually runs and drives pretty nice. I have not registered it yet so it has just been around the block a few times. thanks I plan on lowering the front a little this weekend. 51's have a lot of neat features but the tailigh are not one.49-50 look so much better.
Very very nice start. Just can't go wrong with a shoe. Aerostar springs for the front and off you go.
I always love a Shoe Box...and this one fits that bill just perfect. Nice find...good for you. Keep us in pics as progress continues...
tedley i have went through your build a hundred times. with that said i do not recall how much did you lower the rear?
Your car looks great!!! My car is a '50 Chevy coupe, can't wait until the weather breaks so I can get back to work on it. Keep us post on the work on yours as it gets done...
I finally finished installing the areostar springs. And picked up a few part for it. IMG_20150225_175335 by glendale2004, on Flickr 20150308_170410 - Copy by glendale2004, on Flickr
thanks man I am very happy with the stance and really like the wheel. It is not an overdrive but I have picked up one.I also have another 8ba so the plan is to slowly build the new 8ba and overdrive and then swap both at the same time.
Really love your car...the stance is just right....not slamed. I lowered mine with 4" de-arched springs (Jamco) and 3" blocks.
so it was a long and exhausting day but i have some pics for you guys. 20150313_183516 - Copy by glendale2004, on Flickr first up we got one 552 installed 20150422_112927 - Copy by glendale2004, on Flickr 20150422_120401 - Copy by glendale2004, on Flickr then it was on to exhaust.
