Thanks! Im going for 4 inch chop maybe littelmore in back when fitting it in, gonna lean and move the back window and sink it 1 inch.

 

Cut the roof today and started to put it back on with some mesuring, it will be 4 inch lower in front and 5 inch back.


Now the hard part starts!!

 

Looking forward to this and will follow for sure. Too bad you´ve painted the garnish moldings allready

 

Thanks! Yes a little bad with extra work but i have all paint for free so it doesnt bother me i can paint all day long but a chop happens once on a car

 

Welded front pillors and roof cuts today and cut out the back window then took it outside to get a look at it and clean the garage.

A question for you all with chopped shoeboxes how have you done with your front seats? Mine is a little high so i think when you sit in it now when the roof is lower i will hit my head. Cut the coils and lower the sitting part? I cant lower the hole seat its only an half inch between seat and floor. Stupid question maybe but i dont have anyone to ask....

Todays work, moved right side pillor and finished welding it will grind the welds tomorrow and cut and move left side.

 

I have gained a little headroom in the past by tilted the seat rearward, thereby increasing the angle of recline.
If you cannot drop the back, and there is enough knee room, try a spacer under the front and see if its any better.

Thank you! Yes the look of straigh B Pillars is nice i think but leaning them looks good on the right car to, will try to remmember to take inside pictures tonight after work if you want to.

 

Spend many hours today to fix drivers door gaps and adjusting the latch i had some problems with fittings before i cut the roof so i took the portapower and adjust it today now the gaps around door looks good and door latch close great!

 

I guess chopped tops are problem with taller people.I am not the tallest fellow on this planet,so i have no head hitting issues.But i like to get the seat a bit lower,so i'll get a better view out of the windshield.
I havent modified the front seat yet,but i've been eyeballing it.I noticed 2 things that hits on the tranny tunnel,the seat adjusting rod,that goes under the seat and the another was a bottom seat "sleeve" that is behind the seat.I guess i'll notch the sleeve and modify the adjusting rod.My plan is to fab new seat legs,so i can lower the seat around(hopefully) 2" inches.

 

Sounds like an great plan!! I have also looked at the seat legs and thought of shortend them, great idé of notching the "sleeve" i have thinked of just cut it of but the seat get more stable with the sleeve i think. I also plan to raise the floor for Clerence of driveshaft so i think i do that to when the roof is ready so i dont have to fab the seat twice.

 

After many hours of work today i manage to get the left side b-pillor ready and started with the left door.


I took the last picture just to get a view of the stance, it has got really high in the back after all interior and trunk got removed i think its gonna look great when it all together again and the look of taildragger comes again.

 

Rounded the door corner today and welded in rear corner again

Thanks! Yes i think the drip rail will stay i have try imagine it without but it really doesnt bother me but its still a chance that they will go! Someone maybe have a picture of a shoebox without drip rails?

 

This Ayala-built coupe comes quickly to mind. (Best shoebox coupe chop ever, IMHO.)
I'll see what else I can dig up.

Drip rails will stay have looked at pictures now i think they look funny without...i know its traditional to shave them but they also have a good purpus here in Sweden with all rain. Thanks for the pics Mo!
