Thanks everyone for your positive feedback. I will try to be more active on here. In truth, I have so many pictures posted so many places, that I forget what I have already posted and since it is very slow to try to look back through a big thread and since I don't want to look like an idiot by posting the same thing twice or more, I sometimes abstain.
Here are a couple more from GNRS 2015

Look at the Spence Murray car at the top of the page and then look at all the contemporary customs on the rest of the page and what do you notice about the stance?
Everyone is too low. They are all dumped. Get them up a bit and they get that balance that the early cars managed to do so well. We seem to have lost that art.

I could not agree more, these ultra low cars have always looked "broken" to me, and it is not really traditional to "lay frame"

Not to mention that a lot of guys are completely destroying the flowing lines of a lot of customs'
leaving big gaping holes where the skirts should be!
And then topping it all off with the wrong stance.

On that note; Dave Jenkins was flying that flag with his '49, long before his beautiful '57 (pictured above).

This car is beautiful, and the chop is perfect. I only wish it still had drip rails.

Bill Abates 56 Lincoln. I heard its orange now. Also his 39 Merc and Rags to Richs merc convert in the background. This is probably 1990 after Bill got the Lincoln after all the west coast shows.

Lincoln was finished by Gene Winfield interior Sid Chavers. John D'agostino was project manager for Bill. I believe Art Himsl had a hand in it also. It was a stunning Kustom. Gene took it on tour overseas also. I really cant believe its orange. And that interior is gone.

This has been a favorite picture of mine. Seems to be the Panoramic Ford on the left (seen rarely with he quater windows)
And a Barris built Merc which I can't identify off the top of my head.
They must've been going to a customs show

  24. Also there is another custom I cannot Identify behind the Panoramic Ford

  25. The Merc is the Louis Bettancourt Merc. The custom behind the Panoramic Ford might be Chuck Dewitt's shoebox? The grille looks similar, although the pic above kinda looks like there are not any bullets on the Kaiser bar. Great pic!!

  26. I gotta agree with Manny. A paint job like the orange one would cost a small fortune nowadays, but............
changing the color of that car would be like painting an opened lip smile on the Mona Lisa revealing her teeth. Doing things just for the sake of change isn't always the right thing to do. That car was born to be purple. Bummer they painted it..........E

  27. That is such a great picture. The Barris' had it going on at that time.
The Merc belonged to Louie Bettancourt in this picture. It was eventually purchased by Johnny Zupan and changed up a bit. E

  28. Whoops, looks like my response was slow. Dr. Dave had it right on identifying all the cars. Gotta be quick around here..........E

  29. And to give credit where credit is due the Bettancourt Merc was built by the Ayala's. The Barris' repainted and changed up/added some trim but all the heavy lifting was done at the Ayala shop.
