    This is by far my favorite thread. Especially when the guys with the memories add stories to the pictures. Don't know about you guys but I love seeing the real car that I built models of through the 70's. Sometimes I would look at the wierd body styles or rounded blowers on cammer motors (in a Willys) and wonder if these parts really existed or added for sales appeal. It's very cool to see the pictures and have that questioned answered

  6. At the Fuel & Gas Championships at the famous Famoso Drag Strip in Bakersfield 1961, Lefty Mudersbauch won "Top Fuel" on gas! This "Unblown" dragster beat Jack Ewell in a Blown Top Fuel Dragster in the finals. Lefty ran a super 8.50 at 180mph!! He beat a field of 75 plus cars.

  11. Prudhomme left The Hawaiian to run the B&M Torkmaster car.It ran a fluid coupling from a Hydromatic instead of a standard clutch.

  15. 1965. Driver Maynard Rupp won the NHRA Top Fuel World Championship at the World Finals held at Tulsa. The famed chassis builders the Logghe Bros. built and owned the Prussian which also won Spring Nationals at Bristol Tenn. Rupp also set the A/FD National record of 194.80 at National Trail Raceway Columbus, Ohio, in the Roy Steffey tuned machine.

    Garlits chassis, pretty much the same as Wynn's Jammer. There were a bunch of the Garlits cars, all looked almost identical.
