I built the first one due to not being able to find a good stock one at a reasonable price. This one is 41 rods of mild steel 5/16 inch rods that were silver powder coated. It replaced a cheap repro grille that didn't fit at all.

I made this one a few months back, also in stainless (as well as some taillight bezels)
    Not as good as yours.....
I'm planning a V'd windscreen in stainless soon, going to be interesting ;)

The Speedway "special" that I took off the 39 weighed in at just over 3 pounds.... quality stuff huh?.... the home built one weighed in at 27 pounds and doubles as a bumper! Cured my ride height problem too.

  6. Here is mine I used a department store clothing rack V cut the center to get the angle and contoured the ends to fit the opening Jim

Here's one I made by hammering it over a 34 ford grill the. Cutting it down to size and adding expanded metal. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1422166437.807576.jpg

    Ok here's mine.
Made using 3/8 and 1/4 SS instrument tubing.
Each bar was hand polished then TIG welded from behind.
I made up a roller to form each bar as they were all different.
No, I would'nt do another one in a hurry
The 37 headlights have long gone for good reason and replaced with dropped 36 headlights, the grille has been put aside to go in my steel 3W coupe once this fibreglass piece of shit is finished.

Don Dillard built this from scratch for my '40 ford. Appearance is based on a '40 Merc, but reduced in size to fit the cut-down 40 Standard opening. Bars were water-jet cut from stainless; eyebrows above them were carved from aluminum:

Very Nice. We followed pretty much the same method of construction. The 37 Chrysler grille I'm doing now seems to be a bit easier now that I have two grilles behind me. I'll replace the powder coated grille on the 39 with the polished stainless and then try to sell the powder coated one.

This is the grille that got me started!!!!! It inspired me to do one of my own, then two and now three!. 50 Fraud's build thread is second to none. I've followed it from it's beginning.

This one I built for my 26 Buick roadster. Sheet of steel, large drill bit, plasma cutter, and a straight edge.

I love it... Just use some "Hi-tack" Gasket spray, so it doesn't leak!
