Here's one out at dad's barn....I think it's a 56 though. It would make a cool ride I think.

 

No pic, but one of the first hot rods I saw in person on a regular basis was an IH pickup like that. It belonged to a high schooler back when I was in 5th or 6th grade. We used to walk by it on the way to band and I'd always stop to check it out. It was red with black fenders (which alone influenced the way I built model cars for about ten years), sat on a rake and ran Cragar mags. I don't think anything was done to it mechanically.

Unfortunately I saw it recently and whoever owns it now must have more money than taste. Interior mods (velour buckets and digital guages), blue metallic paint and billet wheels have done nothing for that poor old beastie.

I'm a real conservative guy when it comes to trucks. I'd just paint one commercial green with the faux shop lettering on the side. Black steelies with WWW, raked, long box for haulin' stuff and some kind of reliable powerplant (383 Chevy?) with International valve covers from a later model IH V8 adapted. Cool work truck for me.

 

Here's one I used to own. No, I don't like the gold frame either. It ran 7.20's in the 1/8th with 10.5 slicks, fun truck.

 

This one is on deck to be my new work truck if the F100 sells.
It's a 53 3/4 ton long bed.

Found a older fellow in Wyevale, Ontario, Canada who has a collection of Internationals stored in a barn. I have photos but I don't know how to post them. There is also a wrecker in Barrie, Ontario that has a forty type piled high as an advertisement. I can take a digital of that and I also know of one in another yard that looks good.

Got alot of pics on hard drive...Ive got a 59 and 63 model....the 59 is the same as the us model, but the 63 is when they were built here in oz...............
here is a 59 that has a chev front bumper...almost looks made for it...but I photoshopped the grille in and chopped the roof to see what it looked like....but this 59 was very slick indeed......Bert

Thread is 9 years old and hasn't filled 1 page yet, but what the hell! This one sits in a creek half a mile from my house. It looked like it had been there a long time, when I first found it 35 years ago. It is a c series, 36 or older.
