Projects Tudorfritz slowly builds a Model A (build thread)

  1. No, you'll have to put a cut in the top corners and the bottom corners of the pillars. Then move both halves together until they line up. Just make sure your your windshield opening doesn't get out of square.

  4. I've been working a way on it. I got the glass cut at a shop around the corner from my house. I dropped the patterns of on my lunch break and they had them done the next day. All the glass is installed now. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1421329868.587449.jpg

I also got all the wood back in the pillars and insulated the inside of the doors and cowl. I used the Peal & Seal stuff from Lowes ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1421329985.012868.jpg
Cowl band is on ( reproduction fits like shit) had to rework the corners to fit the cowl better. And I put the cowl seal on, even tho I'm not running a hood I think it looks better with the seals on there. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1421330472.823663.jpg

  5. I got this weather strip for the doors. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1421330576.948874.jpg
I figure it'll keep the paint from getting chipped up over time and help seal them up too. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1421330663.706454.jpg

And that's all I got for now.

I have just read all your thread and love it what steering box did you use? The paint looks fantastic nice and flat, I can appreciate all the time you took to get it there, it's a labor of love. Been body shop since late 50's did basically the same work as you, have great admiration for your talent. I think that is the differance between a real body man and just a technician . Great job Frank

I got this weather strip for the

Can we see a profile of that weather strip on the doors. Or cross section I guess would apply.

  9. Thank you Frank, some days I hate what I do for a living. But then if I wasn't in this trade I know I would never have the knowledge to build stuff like this. The steering box is from a '68-'72 BMW 2002. I found it on eBay for $75 and rebuilt it myself for $20. I originally had the info on the box in the thread. But when they updated the HAMB I went back and deleted some stuff that might have been off topic.

  14. I ordered a top wood kit from Mac's back in December. I called last week to ask where it was and they told me it could be up to 100 days before it ships. It would have been nice if they would tell you that when you order. Just so happens that PannelDragger was looking to sell his top kit. We struck a deal and he shipped it out real quick, thanks Matt. Got it all installed tonight and bought a new vinyl top from Snyder's that I'll start installing next. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1422073315.018671.jpg

Looks like you're pretty much done! Congratulations! You've built a visually appealing, highly detailed, color-coordinated, period correct hot rod! That's not something that everyone can pull off. What will you do next?

A little hair cut, Pontiac side trim, and a color change. image.jpg

Only after I'm done with the interior on the Model A tho.

  23. My plan it to take it take it there next year. I want to have the interior and the rest of the car completely done first. I'm doing the two local indoor shows that are coming up in a few weeks. I'm just gonna put a blanket over the seat for now at these shows. There is a upholstery guy that sets up a booth at the first show, he is gonna take a look at the seat and hopefully give me a price on covering it. I plan on doing the carpet , headliner and trim panels myself.

  26. Fritz do me a favour, share a detail pic of the seal you have between side Windows and body on the lowest portion of the opening? I'm struggling to find something for my own build locally, and that gap has to be filled since I have no plans bathing in there on rainy days.

This is just a anti rattle strip that goes under the garnish moulding.

After I read your post I got to thinking about there really is nothing on the bottom of the glass to seal water out. I ordered window channel kits from macs and there were just 2 channels and a top weather strip in here for both doors. So I got to searching and I found this. http://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_m...r-seal-36-piece-closed-car-and-cabriolet.html

I just used regular glass setting tape to hold the bottom glass channel on. Because now if it gets wet the door will fill up with water the way it is.

  28. Thanks man. My Snyders kit contained the same pieces as yours. I wish I had found that mac's style of seal before I ordered my set. Looks like the sourcing continues, gotta figure out something.
