The '58 Chevy Impala was and still is in a class of it's own.
One year only, and a style totally different.
Loved them when they came out, and still do...
Unfortunately out of my Bucket List $$$ zone... although I am starting to like the Delray and other models too.. :)

This thread brings back memories. Had a white Bel Air 2 door hdtp in the mid 60's. 348/4 speed converted from a turbo glide. Was the fastest car in the area. Won a lot of late night runs with it. Traded it for a new 66 Impala Super Sport. It left the dealership in a few days and the new owner hit a bridge a few weeks later and totaled it. Wish it was still sitting in my garage.

Here are a couple that I found today. The wagon has electric windows and a clock. I don't have enough money or time but I try and save what I can.

Thank you for sharing those with us, oldwood, did you buy those? Nice looking Delray and a fancy wagon, for sure.

Nice Impala, what all did you do with it? I see what appears to be Caddy tail lights.

I hate to see either one turn into parts cars but they have been sitting a long time. I'll probably buy them and part them out unless someone wants to buy them as project cars.

I would sure enjoy getting a station wagon but I have 2 projects to finish before I even think of another one, if I want to keep my happy home and first on the list is my Biscayne.

    .
Dick, tail lites were just red flat plastic, cut to fit and drill mounting holes, removed some of the chrome trim, did some rust repair, painted car twice below side trim, learned about getting filler flat, marina blue, sprayed in driveway. This was back in 66, got the used top at junkyard for $25, I had to take it off car. I have great memories from my youth, car crazy all my life. John

I like your sedan delivery, they are kind of rare on this side of the pond, too.

As I already said, I really like the El Nomado, but 1 thing I am just not sold on is the rear window lift gate, not sure why you would want that feature? Overall, I think the 58 looks so much better than the 59 or 60 El Caminos did, the tri-fives would have too.

Sheesh, I stared at that wonderful machine for 10 minutes this morning and never even noticed it! Might come in handy if you ate too many chili-dogs I guess. Or was just a convenient way of moving the rear glass up.

The red Impala below that is sweet as well, great color.

I saw ElNomado when it first came out at a show in Rhinebeck NY. It was similar to the 56 Custom ElCamino driver I had built but with a lot more engineering, detail and options. I also did not understand the reasoning for having the back window open. Regardless it is still one fine looking ride.
If interested you can check out my 56 Custom build here.
