Projects "Pea Green" the '29 Tudor build

was on the band saw for over on hour (broke last blade) and about 5 minutes on 12" disc sander and shredded the sand paper. I figured it was time to stop for the night....

any guess what I'm making?

 

Ginger bread men with long necks, short arms and short legs???

 

Do they have any thing to do with the four rod ends?

Yes the rods ends will be used with 6061 T-6 aluminum ginger bread men....

 

Glad to see more hand cut / broken saw blade kinda work!
It adds beauty ... compaired to cnc'd mass stuff......10¢

I'm enjoying this.

 

used a "flapbrush" in a grinding wheel to give the Gingerbread men their rough shape, drilled some mounting and tapered tie-rod holes and they're ready for sanding/polishing....

 

Does one bolt something round onto the drilled holes...to save the roundel shape.... from the flapper ? Looks good, by the way.

DAMN, that's a great idea!
I just made some black marker circles and tried not to touch them (while holding in one hand and the grinder in the other) I might do your idea now and touch up before final sanding/polishing.

 

The funny thing is.....I was gonna' ask "if you were just that good to eyeball it" haha Definitely don't dumb down your actions with my set of crutches. I was just wondering how in the hell you had such uniform circles. That's amazing.

I wish I could spend more time in the garage, those 40 hours a week I spent away from home slow me down.
So if were calling the 4 shinny ones "Gingerbread Women" what do we call the track-bar mount I've just roughed out?

Agreed. First thing anyone born after 1970 does with a restored original is junk the fenders, boards, grille, (and replace with a deuce repop) and chop the goddam top. Every time.

That look is cool, better than a street rod, but man early 60's model A's got it goin on...all the fenders, no chop, and stupid horsepower.

Geez F-3, you sure got the fender guys in an uproar. Don't you feel just a little ashamed of yourself, immediately pulling off a good set of fenders.... like you were some damned hot rod kid in the 40's or 50's? ha,ha

I remember reading an article in Rod and Custom sometime in the late 60's. Some guy was talking about his and his buddies hot rods when they were kids in the early 50's. He said "Of course the first thing we did when we got a car was pull the fenders, because obviously a car goes much faster when you can see the front tires from the drivers seat and we wanted to go as fast as we could."

I like your headlight mods. Can the wires go inside the posts, or do they have to be external?

 

I hope no ones panties are too bunched up, but I carefully removed and sold the headlights, Sparton horn, wheels and tires, bumpers and brackets, fenders, apron, shelves and running boards to very happy buyers fixing up their model A's and am using the cash to buy more "hot rodding" parts including a 4" mercury crank for my Ford flathead. I didn't toss or scrap anything even any original looking hardware. For what it's worth I like fendered cars too.

Fabber; I plan to run the cloth covered headlight wires out the bottom of light housings and along the headlight stands.

very little progress, been working on polishing rear axle housing....

does anyone have a link to ID'ing old hardware?

I'm planning to use old hardware were i can, but have looked through my junk and have some marked bolts i'm not familiar with but think they are old'ish.... any thought?

decided to go with a 4 link rear (with a track-bar) using an originally mounted transverse leaf spring. i'm using the late 40's rear radius rods for lowers and steering arms for uppers. still working on mounting locations etc.....

rear aluminum housing is sanded to about 80 grit... what a time consuming messing job.

 

painted 4 rear control arms cream (cleared the tie-rods ends) left ford radius rod welds alone, plan to mount them welds up . About finished axle mounting brackets, still considering shock styles/location/mounting etc....

 

finished polishing rear Dana 44 housing, installed new carrier bearings and welding brackets.

"bondo'ed" welds between two different diameter tubes to make a smoother transition etc..... will sand most off.

Damn it's cold out....

 

i was sitting on the couch watching football and thought; "i can drill holes and watch football at the same time".... couple hours of drilling and my rear backing plates kinda match the front ones.
plan to make a scoop for each plate....(was considering 2 on each side)
