Another small update as we get closer and closer to paint. Another parts order should show up early this upcoming week to get the last few details knocked out. Got the gauge insert made. These are new Greenline Stewart Warners from Speedway. While we could do the engine turning in house, it was more cost effective to order it in a pre-made sheet so that is what we did. It is too thin to act as the panel itself so made a backing piece for reinforcement. The fuel gauge is coming to fill the one empty hole.

We also replaced the speaker grill with an engine turned piece, keeping the Chevrolet emblem in place. The hole where a clock might have been was filled with a horn button cap to match the steering wheel.

Made a bracket to mount the Powergen alternator, it will be chromed like many other things on this car.

And some simple brackets for the driveshaft safety hoop.

We also got Stromberg's killer set of banjo fittings for the carbs, such a clean look! Then the scoops/stacks showed up from OTB, so another engine shot was mandatory.

Looking great, be prepared for sticker shock if you find some halibrand magnesium front runners. Some one has also remade them in aluminium and they are not expensive but still not the real thing.

Where did you source the engine turned sheets from?

Drive shaft safety hoop is too far back? Don't remember the exact rule book dimension but think it was [maybe still is] around 6-12" back from front u-joint...

Then we are entering the realm of poser land along with the roll bar mount in upper right corner of hoop pic...Get enough bling in one spot and just stick the rest..Ladder bar room goes where now, looks like hoop is in the way... Your car build but things get noticed.....

About the driveshaft loop, if the front u-joint breaks, and the loop has to hold the driveshaft off the ground, half way down the length it's gonna bend into a pretzel and do a bunch-o-damage. Yup, your car, but build it correctly and you might not have to fix it later. JMO. And if it's just a showcar, what's the point? again, JMO

The loop is in a good spot. Pictures are deceptive

Roadfarmer, lets end it here..I think I read too much into this post, ""It will be a street car. I want to build it in a way I could run the DOTD or HAMB drags if I wanted to. I'm sure I'll baby it for a while till the newness wears off:D:eek:."" I already apologized to Slammed but I don't know where the post went, just a fact...Found it, I say it again, my bad..

Changing gears here, have you seen the wheels from real rodders wheels??? Might be what you want a lot less expensive than the old magnesium halibrands

  27. Ya, they looks great. Been thinking about those. The front are real Halibrands, just not mag. We'll see

It also has a 6-speed which is totally not what they ran back in the day. "JMO."

But my opinion is that it kicks ass. So, there..

    Keep them coming.

Yup, that pretty much says it all.

  30. out of curiousity.....seems like a lot of people always like to point out when cars are or are not a real gasser. What would you say about my car would make it a gasser STYLE car and not a gasser, like you pointed out? I know those classes are long gone in the NHRA, but I feel like my car has everything that any d/gas car would of had back in the day.
