I found a crack in the block of my B motor. It still runs good, but don't know if it is going to get any bigger.

  5. Yep, it won't get any smaller.
Worst is it will leak a little.

I found out Auto Restorations is closed. They were the only ones who made a clutch disc for my T-5 set up using a stock A bell housing. I am not sure what to do. I don't really want to change all the work I have done and run a AA bell housing. AA parts are hard to come by and a new adapter is expensive. How hard would it be to modify and balance a Speedway Disc hub to work for my set up. Should have ordered the disc when I got the rest of the parts last year. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

Binger, contact Bill, @BCCHOPIT , he may be able to help you out. He runs a pretty successful side business that partly focuses on bangers. This may be something he's interested in.

Thanks for the help. I am trying to do my best to not have to change all the fab work I have done so far.

Not a terrible big hurry. I would like to have it by the spring so I can get the car on the road. I hope to have it running and driving for the summer and work out all the bugs and then take it all apart for paint and upholstery next winter.

Thanks for the lead. I will send him a PM.

Please explain what it is about the Speedway clutch disk that makes it unworkable for an A clutch housing but apparently OK for an AA set-up? I thought that there was also an Astro-van clutch disk that supposedly worked for a T-5 adapted to an A or B motor. Can someone enlighten me??

There is about a 2" difference in the length of the A and AA bell. The distance from the flywheel to the trans is longer on the A bell. That puts the spline for the T-5 trans. input shaft in a different location requiring an extended clutch disk center hub. This is a special piece made by Auto Restorations.

Thanks for the explanation. I have a Dwight Bond adaptor for an AA bellhousing and had always planned to use a Speedway or Astro-van clutch disk when I finally put it to use, so I was a little concerned when I read Binger's post.

    Hey Binger,
How did you adapt the T5 to the closed drive shaft? Is it a 4X4 tranny? Did you make that adaptor?

  20. This is an answer I gave to 530sandman in another conversation, just in case he doesn't see it.

Hi, I'm sorry to bug you but I'm having trouble finding a set of B rods. Crower has a 9 week waiting period due to the holidays. I've read that you've had good luck with the Jay Steel / Taylor Rods. Are they still available? If yes, would you please tell me a website or phone number of who to contact?
    Thanks,
    Joe
    Joe,

Sorry I'm slow getting back to you; I just got back into town.

Jay Steel died several years ago. His wife sold the business. It struggled for a year or so and closed it's doors. I don't know what happened to the inventory. I was just looking at my rods last night. My engine's all apart for a "Major". They have no identifying names or numbers; but, if I had to guess, I think they're Crowers. And, off topic, I misspoke on this thread a few weeks ago when I said that my crank was ground out by Joe Panek of Roto-Faze. It's from Crower. Joe ground a cam blank for me.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning. TJ from throttle jockey originals just finished some fabrication and assembly for me. I now have a driving, stopping car. Now it's my turn. Need to put the rest of the sheet metal back on. I'm looking forward to this, my first pre-war car. Should be very cool.

  22. I might be able to find a set or two of the Eubanks rods made a few years ago.
"B" size, with inserts. not sure on the pins. Both 4130 or Alum.
