Hot Rods Let's see your homemade speed equipment

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Robert J. Palmer, Nov 26, 2014.

  1. I love vintage speed equipment, but as a welder fabricator I love to peoples ingenuity when money is tight.
    As soon as I figure out how to post photos I will put up what I have found and built!

    Right at the bottom next to POST REPLY is the UPLOAD A FILE button. I'd like to see some too.

  3. I changed computers so I don't have a lot of pics floating around like I used to but this engine has a pair of crudely built but functional intake manifolds on it. I didn't build them they were built by a fella named Chet Smith an old Olds guru way back when.

    LOL who says that sheet metal manifolds aren't traditional. o_O:D

  4. That's slick, 'beaner! Indeed they are; here's a fabbed dual Winfield intake on the Bean roadster - 1938;

    My brother drew up a Hilborn-style injection intake in CAD for his Ardun engine. I have a pattern about half done (maybe I'll finish it this winter) and we'll have some cast in aluminum. Long term project, and no pics yet.

    All my other home-made parts are mostly decorative (dash panels, steering mounts, etc.).

  6. I found a closer pic of them I thought I had a pic of the heads that they bolt to.

    I have cleaned them up since these pics were taken they actually cleaned up pretty good.

    Here's some zoomies I built for Sephgato a few years back. They are built this way so that when he gets tired of them he can throw a collector on 'em.

  7. I am still trying to figure out this posting photos deal, but I will tell you about what I have

    -An N.O.S. Gotha kit to put 2X1bbls on a stock Chev 6 intake
    -Floater Safety hubs using wide 5 Ford car hubs with the centers machined out and a 3/4 ton truck hub welded in Vintage Stock Car!
    -I have built my own spilt Chev 6 exhaust
    -I also have an N.O.S. Douglas header/intake flange

  18. For obvious reasons I never took pictures of it but my high school pal and I built a poor boy McCulloch type blower for our '49 Lincoln. We took a heater motor and made some ductwork and plumbed it to the carb. For some reason we were unable to detect any performance gain.

  19. Homemade 4 - 2 barrel intake flathead Ford v8. Each throat of carb feeds individual intake ports so each port(in theory) is tuneable to that particular port. Pacific Jackrabbit number 2 prototype
