Just had these sent to me. Original 1 of 1 1937 Packard motor home. Bought for $16K about 10 months ago. It had been in a garage for many many years. All original, washed and polished, waxed with a coat of clear applied. Some minor engine work and it started right up. 40K original miles. Owner was offered $300K however declined.
Oh hell yes! I love this thing, its ugly as sin, and so damn cool for it. This will get the Packard guys fizzin.
Wow, that's awesome.....and yes....that thing would have disappeared like a fart in the wind, if I was offered 300k......would have even let him bang the wife......but then again, good for him !!!!! He likely has more money then most, maybe ?? Or a better looking wife.....
Wow !!...I love it. And at $16K a real deal. But I have to admit, if I paid $16K for it and somebody offered me $300K I would have sold it, paid off the mortgage on the house and every other bill I had and used the rest to start another project.
This one reminds me of a'39 Dodge short bus I had in the '70's. It was about 17' from firewall to the inside of the back door and was totally outfitted. Powered by a 394 Olds -TH 400 with a two speed rearend. Spent many week ends in that thing and always had a good time. .....................Jack
Very neat conversion, but wow $300K and not sold? I am with the rest, would have a new owner and i would have a nice pile of cash.
Maybe 300 was a stupid lowball compared to its true worth. I have no idea but there can't be that many people who want it at 30gs let alone 300gs
The only difference I can find is the parking lights on the front fenders. Either it's the same Packard or there was more than one built.
I'm not a motorhome fan, but I'd definitely let that one stay in my garage! For $16k, mgtstumpy got one really cool toy!!! Maybe, maybe not. This is the old "everything has a price" argument surfacing again... I've found that the older I get, the less money means to me. Could be that the seller was worried about finding a good home for his 'baby'. Sometimes that can be more important than a stack of paper with numbers printed on it...
Clearly, the first one posted is an original. They are definitely two different vehicles. I love the 1937 Chrysler Airflow skirts.
The description is of the contrary. I see patina on the original posted motorhome. I see primer on the second one posted.
Anyone have any idea who the body builder was? As for the marker lights on the front fenders....you can buy those from any of a number of suppliers.I have seen them offered on ebay as well.
