Jerry's roadster build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HomemadeHardtop57, Nov 5, 2014.

  1. Man you can be really satisfied with this one. The work you're doing is nice and the fact you're doing it all yourself is even better. I have a lot of respect for people who do it all them self.

I'm diggin' it all Jerry. You do have the touch. Is there a company name on those gauges? Very unique. Are the mechanical or electrical?

Thanks, had some help on the rails by Koz and the tank by Todd Cassler. Everything else I've been doing myself in my garage.

The gauges are brass cased Stewart Warner. Mechanical tach and the others are 12 volt electric. I'll get them functioning and will see how accurate they are. In my 32 I didn't hook up the old Plymouth gauges but have a hidden, accurate cluster on the passenger side under the dash by the cowl.
These gauges were too cool not to use.

Zach Suhr and I put our heads together and came up with these cool tags. I tapped into his graphic design background for some help and we came up with this design for an old style aluminum tag. I'm going to build a bomber bench seat and put one of these on. One has raised letters and the other reversed. Not sure which I'll use

Doesn't get any nicer. Can't wait to see it finished up and in person! Nice roadster in every way.

A little more seat progress... Man this is super tedious shit.

Made back support strips and the seat bottom. Tomorrow I'll start on the sides

Spent about 5 hours today banging away on the seat. Got the sides made and riveted on. Also trimmed the top profile to a more pleasing shape.

Still need to roll the top and side edges , make side gussets and the long bottom piece that joins the seat and the back that you sit on.

    Getting there!

A little more seat work.. Put in the side seatbelt gussets and started to make the bottom support strip.

Damn fine execution on that bomber seat. I can't imagine how tedious it must be getting the details right when building one. Keep us post as the progress continues and we'll make sure the "attaboys" get applied.
