  2. Gent, is this body going to be about the same size as a deuce or more like a Bantam?

Don't stop now! I am impressed with your casting the body lines. I don't think that I would have ever thought that one up on my own.
    Good Luck!

  4. "I don't have the metalworking tools (or skills!) to hand-form the panels"

I think at this point that statement is no longer true. Nice work man.

It's about the same size as a deuce, for example I have a measurement of 67'' from rear axle to firewall.

I just want to say that at no point in the build have I used an English wheel, bead roller or shrinker/stretcher. All the panels are made up of Bug parts and sheet steel bent in simple curves.

Chassis can be '32 Ford or scratch built I think. It's going to be channelled so will need to be kicked up in the rear.

Sorry i am late to the party, great build and imagination you have, i am looking forward to the end result as i think it is really showing how to think and build a vehicle outside the box. Lee

    Beetledeuce is back!!!
Thanks for all the support guys and for helping to get this thread restored, I'm over the moon:D.

So now I think you deserve some more photos:p:p:p.

Ok, so I constructed a framework of tubing in the position of the rear bulkhead and also to take the upper deck panel. 20130523_144612a.jpg 20130523_144619a.jpg 20130523_144629a.jpg

For the upper deck lid panel, I got my local sheet metal shop to put a couple of folds in a piece of sheet steel. It's the only time I got some work done elsewhere. 20130524_112541a.jpg

This panel then sits on the frame that I had previously installed.

I am so happy that they did make the prudent decision to restore this thread, and Beetledeuce is shaping up so very well, great job on this build!

  24. Glad this thread is back, as it shows for those that dont have a pullmax, english wheel or planishing hammer that you can find shapes in existing vehicles to build a car.
