I like the ideer about the of glass trailer, but it also hurts my heart, when a hot rod is on a trailer.
They are ment to be driven.

Between this and snoppy/snewpee, its perfect.

My Advice to Snoppy's new dad, beware of what you change, small things make a big difference.
    Only fix broken!

But If you choose to redo whole car, then you risk loosing some of the original feeling!
But it can be done. But its a dangoures task.

But God Damn what an awesome survivor!

And to qoute a HAMB all-star:
    Patiently waiting for more pictures!

    And Another HAMB all-star:
Good Luck, Have fun, Be safe.

Strip it and give it a paint job it deserves.

I often agree with you @loudbang, but its very importent to keep that survivor feel, and that means not change a thing, except paint , and thats a hard one to do!
    But can be don.
I most confess, I hate to see rust, but old paint dont hurt me.

Its a thin line, and there is no going back.

  8. I agree, that's a 5 hour drive for me & would make the drive just to see this car. If I can find an enclosed trailer to borrow/rent I can bring Snewpee along !

Looks like an old Mallory with some form of ballast resistors. Kool car. If it were blended by someone with expert level patience it would still be the real thing. What would the original owner have done if it were still in his hands when that happened? Past that, whether we like that style or not, there's a lot to learn looking at this one. Good for you.

31PICKEMUP, if you did feel the need to re-paint her, this advice would be the route to go. But I like this one "original" because folks can see that this is truly the color the car was painted when built. Most of us are drooling over this car because it is rolling history and so nearly perfectly preserved. It is a time capsule. That said, I think either route, preserving the original paint or re-painting it with old school lacquer, would meet with general approval here for the most part. Just don't paint her pink with blue stripes.;)

I gotta post again just to let the steam out.
That car is sex on wheels, it is like a perfectly handrawn circle!
    Everything just fits so perfectly!
And the fact that it's been preserved like this for all these years. WOW!

Looks like it could be a 49-53 8ba with earlier heads. Or a 59a engine with an 8ba intake? :)
Neat fan brkt setup. Two belts on the front of that. Running a really wide double pulley shaft from the crank.
Timeless beauty. Right out of the archives. How's it run? Was it found near us in Ohio?

Its a 49 Merc engine. Converted to earlier timing and heads. Dunno how it runs yet it wont be here til Tuesday. Say it has a lifter that goes a little load then goes away but engine runs well he says. Its been sitting

That was definitely a high quality build at the time! Lots of nice small details. Very neat old hot rod!

Could you possibly get a video of it running? Maybe even a ride-along?

Love the interior. It looks like you might have enough room to put the generator back centered if you wanted to clean up the rad hoses. You would have to do something with that vertical oil breather. I wonder if it used to have a different intake with more carbs.

Man I love the interior and color combo. The paint is cool too but now my vote is that you re-do it at some point. The whole car is too cool to be rockin the barn fresh vibe for any long period of time.

That is sweet. Love the color, the engine, the interior, the wheels, lets make this easy. What I don't like about it is that it is not MINE!
