OK. This was at the FAST hillclimb on Sunday:

A block, 4" stroke 4" bore. 3 valve DOHC. Blown and injected. I was told that the rods are shorter then stock and the head is inset into the cylinders quite a bit. Runs up to @ 6500 rpm.

Tech info required ? I belive that with my Rutherford overhead with its large intake and exhaust ports that smaller venturi carbs are required in order to speed up airflow the extractor I am using will bea two into two into one system primary pipes being around 24 inches long secondary being around 18 inches has anyone any idea what the ideal pipe diameter should be? I know it will make little difference on a motor like my B but if I dont at least try and get each step right I am going nowhere. This is the kind of question that Bluto may be able to help out with that is if you dont mind Jim and feel up to it or Bill you work in this field. Airflow is what it is all about with these engines and it is not my strong point many thanks Rusty.

I had a buddy that built flow benches out of Sears Craftsman shop vac motor. I had a bench of his. 18 inches of water. and you plugged it in the wall! The biggest factor was the tube matrix bundle. Tried several before he got it right. This was 1970 I think.

My guess is that you can effect the ports with the correct configuration of various tubes and IDs

I did find out that exhaust design is a "slippery slope" trial and error. Most designs are the result of pipe organ tuning not engines. I build and listen. If you get it right there is an "on the pipe" note change. Always used a megaphone in the pipes end. When you got it right the megaphone would begin to crack and fall apart. I'd fix them over and over....... so much so we had one we called "FRANKENPIPE" it was that stitched-up

Hey brain still works. Tremors make typing a little hard to do. I hope this helps Please remember I am living on some pretty strong meds. Can't have anything sharp.

I think you can effect flow by creating an intake port insert but you'll have to see yourself.

And perhaps a less that radical lift or duration cam with 11l-112 lobe centers.

I've read this over several times if it sounds goofy I'm sorry

You can fix it all with a blower!

You don't have to put a blower on KILL!

I honestly thought you'd gotten Fords to work pretty good.

I wish I still had my flow bench....... It taught me how much I didn't know
I'm trying to get back to my Rosengart(French Austin 7) engine. I'll post some of the itty-bitty go fast and make it live parts.

  27. Just got home from ElMirage.
Made two passes, 140.5 and a 141.2 mph.
I need to look at data and see if maybe any more can be gotten out of this head.
It may be better to just finish up the new one and forget this one.

You do know how hard it is to go fast at El Mirage.....

Maybe it's best to save this head and build another just in case you have the correct B'ville setup

    Just a thought
