Has anyone heard an update on Rich Fox? Hope all is well with him.

 

Speaking for Rich Fox I can safely say all is doing OK. I am pretty much done with the pacemaker install and have been making some progress on the 318/Dodge bros. head.

Crazydaddyo how was that hill climb today? If i didnt have to be at work at 2 today i would have gone.

 

With all that work that has gone into 4Banger building and research has anyone come up with the ultimate combination for a coast to coast driver? Could you drive it at interstate speeds all day long? Bob

 

Does anyone know what happened to the "Macsspeed" web site - Graeme McNeill (owner) from New Zealand did have one a while back, but every possible word combination I have tried just comes up blank. They made aluminum castings & parts for A & B engines, even bell housings.

 

What should a repouring of babbits cost me for an A engine (rods and mains)?

My son took a video of one of your runs up the hill, we will try to post but I will email you a copy as soon as I get one. His (our) best was a 9.125 each run he improved by approx, .125 sec. but he heard a noise so.... He posted it on his instagram page under famniel.

It was good seeing your car out there and better yet talking to you briefly.
I don't get much chance to see my car run. I would love to have a copy.
My fastest was 9.083. I got 8 runs in. #8 broke something between the flywheel and the trans output shaft.These were the fastest passes I've made in the 10th mile up hill runs yet. I don't think the trans liked me shifting without letting off the gas.

It sure sounded good, seemed to really break loose when you started.
We went from 5.30's to 5.10's seemed to leave too much gap from 2 nd to high or third. Pulled off the line strong. Now he (son) wants a set of long Lincolns.

 

My banger is almost ready...hope to test-fire later this week (weather sucks right now).

'30 A block, bored .040" over, Brierley/Winfield SU-1R cam, Scat crank, vintage Winfield Yellow Head.

Bottom end is babbitt with splash oiling. Will be using a stock exhaust manifold, Winfield SR-B downdraft, and Model B distributor. Sorry for the crappy pic; will get better photos and a video soon!


I'm using a Model A front cover - any suggestions on where to set the initial timing? I've heard 5* advanced should be a good starting point.

 

Like to hear it run. I think 5 degrees should be a good start. I use B distributors but with lighter springs. FS made timing kits and conversion kits for the B distributor that would give you 39 degrees. I have been running close to 28 degrees.

 

Listen to Bill. You don't want to run too much advance with a babbit bottom end.

Picked up a nos Stewart Warner 60's tach and crank drive for the roadster. Looking for ideas on the tach drive mount. I am using a B engine mount so I am thinking along the lines of using the left engine mount bolt and also one in the B mount. Not much room in this area so would like to see some photos of what others have done.
