That 1/4 window looks pretty good ... But you would have to make the revels like a ford to make it look right...

So far I think you have done an excellent job with the belt lines giving the car the right feel... Is it getting fairly heavy with the lead work yet?

Are you keeping track of your hours ? I would be interested how long it has taken from start to finish.

 

I was waiting to see the rear 1/4s as that's usually where these things go astray, But you nailed it just like the rest of this remarkable build. Too cool!! JW

 

That extra ford like reveal line wouldn't be that hard, In the link in my signature

 

So keep at it, second one is always easier

 

You are right, the window reveals would have to be right.
All the leadwork is hollowed out on the underside, to use less material and to keep weight down. To be honest, I don't think this will add significantly to the overall weight.
I have no idea how many hours this has taken, all I do know is that it would be an awful lot quicker the second time around !

Next I tacked the 1/4 panel I had made to the section including the B post.

 

All the time making sure that the two sides were equal.

 

I then closed the tops of the 1/4 panel, backwards from the door.

 

This now matches the profile of the door tops.

 

im in.just read the whole lot.from one brit to another,outstanding,what vision.may I ask what your profession/trade is.where are you based in the uk.would love to see this.

 

This project shows MUCH more imagination than mine did in the '60s.
I used a '32 roadster body for panels to finish a '49 split window VW!
Now bash. LOL

what can I say , a splendid use of resources, as we well know real Ford 32 roadsters are either made of gold or a substance some Americans call "unobtanium" possibly due to the cost/rarity in their part of the world. Your car is creating a similar stir to the English built "batmobile" styled Citroen based sled a few years ago, I can't remember the car's name or the builder so I can't give any credit to it's builder. K eep up the good work.

Nice Job. I think you are heading down the right track where it has elements of an old Ford but will be its own unique car.

 

You need to squash the iconic VW Round badge into a Blue Oval....

Your very skilled that stands out a country mile.
The build is top notch.
It obvious that you have a lot of experience working metal.
Would you give us an over view on how you built up the knowledge you are using on the build.
Also are you working on the build full or part time?
I am curious. Are the mouldings a lead tin mix.
Or pewter which is 90% tin +- 5% and copper
if the mix is 60/40. Lead tin that is affectivity soft solder
Am I correct in that assumption?
Great build look forward to the next installment .
