I see a grill up for grabs!! Bet it'll be cheap! It's ok to laugh a little, right? Driver was ok, car was likely insured if it was for sale on a lot... all good news, at least it wasn't being driven at the time! I just keep picturing a minivan going airborne!

That was my first thought. And a flying Caravan? Must have been quite the sight.

  5. My 1st thought also. Haha.... Hope everyone is ok.

Actually that would be a nice car to restore. All one needs is a rust free dry state project car to provide a fresh chassis and body. Think of all the hard work restoring parts, most of them will still be good.

  8. Damn shame......you sure don't see them out in their natural state much.....and with sleeping Caravans running rampant....it sure won't help the Desoto DNA stocks.

that sucks. wonder if the idiot driver has insurance? probably offer the owners $1000.00 to settle since it is just an old car

  13. What he said - will US insurance companies allow the owner to buy back a write-off. I did that about 5 years ago and it all worked well for me.

  14. That must have been a loud as hell crash...

You are correct! That's what I get for quoting the news media who "identified" the car in their news story.

So I guess the Minivan smacked this car so hard that it bounced back and spun all the way around before coming to rest....man where is the video.

I would not have thought a Mini Van could inflict that much damage to that big Desoto.

hit it in the weak zone of those cars. But the minivan did fare better. It probably has the Flat head 6 Hemi.

That's a decent side on! Hopefully the driver is OK, well the car isn't. Down here if insured with a certain company you get the paid out the agreed value of the car plus you get to keep the wreck and do with it what you like!. Part it out may be?

The minivan must have been going like hell. It takes a lot to crush a 1950 DeSoto.

Yeah, surprisingly nasty damage to 50's real steel vs modern pop can.

Attached to the article are some pictures; one shows what looks like a still from the security video. The still looks like the moment of impact. The van's rear wheels are still off the ground.

    That would suck.

  29. Sad to see the Desoto end its LONG life to a JERK.
The real issue here is the JERK in the Caravan could have hit or killed you or me or someone we love.
Some can laugh at the damage, etc., but the concern for me is the fact that horses asses are out there driving ... maybe driving a Caravan or whatever, but they are out there, without any regard for your concern or safety.
Behind the wheels of so many vehicles, there are more horses asses out there than horses.
    Be safe.

  30. Most instances would have a pull over, and nod off session.......unless not entirely sober or some sort of medical knockout issue. Does suck that the older iron made a hasty end....but ..maybe it went to join its former owner.....in that great big hot rod haven in the sky ?
