Not your traditional '54 Merc, but it is coming along slowly. Finished the tail light bezels and light assemblies. Door panels and deck panels done. Picking up seats from the upholstery shop tomorrow!

A few "Before & After" photos of my '51 Merc. It's still isn't done, but it's back together and nearly road ready. Both Front.jpg Both Rear.jpg Both Frame.jpg

What does every one use for bolts when putting the Merc body back on the chassis? I have the rubber frame/body mounts but I was not there when the body was pulled off the chassis so I don't know what was there. Can regular bolts be used?

    Thanks!
    John

  6. If you go to YouTube look up bolts for a 49-51 Mercury body bolt there is a vid from Mercuryland he had a kit. I am trying to figure that all out right now also.

I have bought other items from him, is he not selling any items now? I saw the threads where it said he was reducing inventory, but the web page is still up.

  8. I think he is out of business now. I have tried to call & email but they don't work. I got a lot of stuff from him last year also. There is a thread on the HAMB about body mounts with some diagrams. I got the bushing kit from Dennis Carpenter & it is not right missing a few bushing & I had three different sizes when I took mine off. His only has two kinds & not enough of one & to many of the other.

There's got to be something out there. I see a lot of frame off work being done, so what are those guys using?

Got my pedals almost all the way in. Just need to cut my brake rod to fit. Also got my master cylinder in & brake lines ran. My buddy said my lines need to be switched but not sure? 1967 ford master drum/drum what you all think?

As far as body mounts I use two 41-48 ford kits. Ill post up a pic of the diagram and sizes. I usually use normal fine thread bolts and nyloc nuts if the stock ones are shot

  12. I finally got around to having my buddy Joe Van Beneden fab up my grille:

Looking at the picture with you holding the trophy next to your sled, it looks like there is two little men sitting on your left shoulder!

Thanks guys, StichBitch does some incredible upholstery work. The Merc should be home this weekend, and all I have left to do is install the grill (custom stainless tube), head lights, taillights and gauges.

  22. Ummmm....no bueno JK!!! Wtf happened?

  23. The passenger rear tire spit the tread at 70 mph coming back from Austin. We zig-zagged across I35 & hit the guard rail. My wife suffered a severely sprained ankle & had to have surgery. It's okay though, I had a front end and frame ready to go before we got out of the hospital.
