As soon as I clicked on jalopyjournal and saw that car, I said, out loud, "Oh...my....gosh!" What a beautiful car! Just right!
Great looking coupe - I dig the shellacked wood panels on the doors and the touch of color on the frame horns. Lots of nice details here - just a straight up hot rod.
Yeah that's a great car. I really dig the color. My A pickup is similar in construction aside from the '57 283. Just a nice hot rod. 36 dash, 40 standard caps, 39 trans. It's in primer right now, no frills, no catalog items. I've driven the wheels off it this summer.
Nice hot rod. Some time and thought went into that one. HAMB material for sure. A good bit o' work went into makin' that baby look 'casual'
The car is gourgeous, no doubt. Very well concieved and executed. Built to be driven. Good words are also due to the photos. Beautiful pictures and on spot scenario.
Funny you mention that... The little touch of red on the frame horns is one of my favorite parts of this car. Obviously, this was a frame that was just laying around and ripe for the picking. I just love that.
This car is perfect. It's a classic example of it's all in the details...without too many details. The column drop is really slick, who made that? Also, the '36 dash in rust form works perfect with the rest of the color scheme on this car. Beveled, rearview is a nice touch as well...Would love to see it up close and talk to the builder...and take it for a spin!!!
Note to the boss: I'm really enjoying this recent string of features on "real" hot rods (Hell's Messenger, the '32 with the E & J's, etc.). I'm in love with this Model A, thank you for the feature.
exactly - its a small touch that tells that story, if you are inclined to listen. It might have been tempting to paint it or the bare spot on the spreader bar - but I love that he didn't - adds a touch of patina up front and as you say "casualness" to an otherwise clean painted car. Hot rod "wabi-sabi" - perfect imperfection. Its not just the things you choose to do but so often the things you don't do that really make it work.
I don't love the color, but that wouldn't stop me from driving it anywhere at the drop of a hat. So cool.
I'll drink that kool aid! Once of my favorite things is to see parts re purposed...such as the brake clevises holding the license plate to the spreader bar that used to be the brake cross shaft. Dig it.
