Thumbs down on the'32 grille and shell. Been done too many times with substandard results. When you apply a '32 grille on anything other than a'32 or Model A your admitting you don't have enough creativity to do something worthwhile for the project.

Subscribed. My son and I built a '36 fenderless truck. It's what he could afford and he is having a great time with it. We used the '36 grille shell because we thought the proportions worked a little better. I like what you have going here.

those little dial type pressure regulators are not very reliable and can spring a leak, FYI.

Here's a picture of mine with a trimmed and 2" sectioned '36 grille shell. I got a great deal on it from the HAMB classifieds. I think it looks better on these trucks than a '32 shell. 011.JPG

I want to know more about that truck. It is pretty much exactly how I would build one, looks like the doors are stretched.

Totally agreed on this! Not only that but they are extremely unreliable for constant pressure. Do yourself a favor and ditch that thing. Put a regular Holley low pressure regulator in it's place before you have to get gas all over your pretty new engine!

Otherwise looking good. However - as much as I hate to go with the masses, the Deuce shell just doesn't cut it on these trucks. A '37 would be bitchin'!

Theres a thread on it somewhere, they were supposed to follow up with paint, but I never heard anything more. Rare to see a traditional styled truck on here, and that one was a knock-out. I'll see if I can find the original thread and link to it, it was a couple years back.

A truck grill will do more justice than the 'other' grill. Still not sold on the 'A' frame and open wheeler but not my car. So far it's been an interesting approach so I'm open to development.

I had lost track of this build, but I like how it is coming out. Nice workmanship, and I like the look.

I like it! I think the backlash to the grille has more to do with it's over-use than the actual look. The long version you are working with looks much better to me than the shortened version in that old black and white. Beyond that it's just a question of taste. The 34 looks good on there too, but I'd hesitate to say it was a big design issue one way or the other. Metal work is coming along just fine... give her pig!

Here's a grille I fabbed to match the rest of my home-built. Just another idea. I could see laying it back to match the angle of the windshield pillars, like I did. It might match the lines of that '36 cab, no?

  24. I'm liking the look of the truck but I have to agree with the late Frank Burrell (fab32) that the deuce grill shell just doesn't lend itself to the over all look of the truck. HRP
