    Does anybody out there know the current owner of the Watson #2 four cam Ford sprint car ?????

    There is a judge in the St.Louis aera that has a sprinter with a 4 cam in it was displayed in Iowa at sprint car museum.

    I remember seeing that car at Reading, PA when I was a kid. If I remember correctly Aldo Andretti was driving it that particular night, not Mario. Also, I think Willie Davis had one that Gary Bettenhausen drove there. That thing had a unique sound, as it was turning way more RPMs than the other cars. It was really neat to hear and watch!
     
  4. Just posted midget picts with no label. Cars are in Ray Boiseneaus collection in Concord NH. He has more vintage unrestored cars that I did not photograph. Great guy with lots of the history of New England and national racing.

    Aldo Andretti almost killed himself at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in 1969 in the car, I think Mario owned the car. I was there that day, he got over someones wheel in a heat race. It was a IMCA show. Bill

    The last I heard the Watson car was in Ray Skillman's collection in Indy.

    The car Aldo drove was an Edmunds that may have had some Grant King modifications

    The last time I saw the Willie Davis car was at an unsanctioned show at DuQuoin in 1971 or 72 and had the offie in it - the car was set up to run Ford, Offie, or Chevie depending on what Willie thought would work best for a given track. The car had just been purchased by Buck Buckley out of New Jersey

    The Willie Davis car is the one owned by the St.Louis judge,Tom Welch is his name.Car is restored and is absolutely beautiful !

    I've Got a couple of shot's of Willie's race cars. The first is one of My fathers shots of the Offy Version at Syracuse in '69, the second was one of MY Shots at Reading with the Ford and that last one of My Photos is Elvin Felty in what I was told an Ex Willie Davis car at Flemington 7-11-2008_006 (2).JPG 1-2-2009_015.JPG 10-22-2008_110.JPG

    Looking for some history on this chassis- Have tracked it pretty much from present back to about '78 when Jack Crawford ran it back east. Possibly he got it from the Anderson Indiana area, but who knows when. It has been identified as an Edmunds, but could be a copy... or...?
    Bernie justly proud of his rework. It has been stretched out to 94" from 84" for vintage fun.

    cook frame 014.jpg I know the history of this chassis. the Cook boys are restoring it. They originally built it in 1966. Bernie helped me with some parts for it.

    Rich was a great guy and a great driver. Some people took his extreme focus on the job at hand for being unfriendly, but that wasn't the case at all. In addition- he would always help you with any gear or handling questions, and help you set your car up if you asked him. I miss him and the neat times I had racing with him and other guys that frequent this board, like Roy Carruthers and others. We can't go back. That sucks.

    Just got word that Bob McCoy, former CRA driver, Scta and SDRC member, and artist extraordinaire died today. A very talented man in many ways. A good write up on him in the old Joe Scalzo book "Stand on the Gas" Rest in peace Bob.

    Can still hear Sandy Reed on the P.A. at Ascot: "Bullet Bob McCoy". Nice guy, genuine hot rodder and a very good sprint car shoe.

    That is a REAL pretty racecar. Congratulations. Did it ever have a roll bar / cage mounts?

    No roll bar or cage mounts,chassis was found in 2012 in LA leaning against a security fence that was around a u store it facility.The finder thought it was a pre war Maserati chassis and forwarded the photo to Greg Schneider who told him to buy it,fortunately he knew it was a Kurtis 4000 chassis.The reason it was against the fence was due to non payment of storage .The only cutting to chassis was to firewall hoop which had been cut off.And because of cutting of the hoop on fire wall it perfectly matched the body panels that were discovered in an empty warehouse in LA in 1992 with original red paint and lettering from 1954.The only panel that was altered was the cowl which had been cut like the firewall hoop.How they got to LA and why they were separated only to be discovered 20 years apart is all part of the mystery !
