How much did you cut out in the front and in the rear?

4" out of the front... The rear.... I cut till it looked right to me... I honestly couldn't tell you. Close to 4.5"-5"? at the B post...

Thanks man! I have... But on a much smaller scale... We still use it at Ford now! But my dad is well versed in lead. I'm going to blast the body when the chop and floors are done. Then body work starts!

Nice metalwork on the top; good tip about that 289 Hi-Po left manifold!

Where did you get your skirts?
    (I have a '47 sedan that will be a neat late-'40s taildragger...)

Thanks! I bought the skirts off of e-auction not really sure they are made for the car but they fit nice!

I noticed the 'slope' of the top after the third time you 'adjusted' it...Perfection!
It was obvious you were taking the car outside for the 'visuals'...
The procedure of cutting more from the rear is age-old: Sam Barris spoke of that trick, but Tommy Hrones ("Tommy the Greek", Oakland, CA) mentioned it in the '40s.
If the 'B' pillar indeed came down 1" greater than the vertical descent of the 'A' pillar, it would calc to 'very desirable proportions'!
Hope the color is maroon or black...

Thank you very much! I have many hours of just starring at it! The color?! I'm leaning towards Washington Blue... But I love dark reds!! Time will tell!

Well I took a break from welding and grinding did a little sanding. Trying to strip the rust and paint off so I can see what I have to face on the rest of the body... Not too bad really other than the front fender... It's way out of shape... I'm no metal guy so I'll be replacing it. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1411739287.934233.jpg

I have been following your project just to see where your going. I have a 46 Ford coupe I bought years ago that was chopped in the sixties and never finished the doors are still welded shut and everything was stick welding. It is pretty much a body, frame, and fenders.

Absolutely badass car. Beautiful chop. If I could throw this out there as something to digest and really consider. I think you lowered back window 1.5 or 2 inches or so, it would look more like it belonged. It just battles the lines where it is now. Beautiful work. Badass ride.

Thank you! I had thought about it but personally I like the flow better with the window up higher... with it down it makes the C post seem... weird. I cant explain it. But thanks for the constructive criticism!

    image.jpg Here's my 46.....

Great looking project man. Love the chop and stance. How long are the shackles you made? I also made some to lower it, added skirts, but feel like I should lower the rear more.
