SO COOL to see you're building a late 40s taildragger!!

These coupes seriously look best this way.

Also cool to see you're keeping the drivetrain traditional too!

What are some of your other plans? Skirts? Appletons? Sombreros??

The plan is to get the car up and running and slowly make it more of a custom. Taillights are going in the bumper guards, skirts, spot lights, chopped and a custom grill... I'm leaning towards 50 Plymouth but that seems to be a little too over done so im still up in the air there.... Should be a fun car!

Decided to change my transmission out for a 5speed... Took my ford racing trans and swapped a s10 tailshaft out and got that in and mounted. Plan on using a hydraulic clutch with a wilwood master and external slave on the stock pedal. Oh and tried my edelbrock 3x2 manifold on just for fun!! Looks awesome!!!

Great stance, good plan for a good looking car. The flathead was neat but the tri-carbed OHV Ford motor is cool too. Looking forward to seeing more.

Got my clutch stuff and I'm starting to get every thing together. I made a dual reservoir master adapter and clutch master bracket... I kinda copied the ones Brian Bass used on his and The Wade coupes. Should work great

Well shit... It's been a while... Got my Model A on the road so I can focus on the 46 completely. Things have changed to say the least. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408803543.110687.jpg

Drive train is now all 48 ford. My dad put a 302 c4 9in in his car and gave me everything.

The chop is my main focus right now. It's a learning process for sure! Got a long way to go but my confidence is high.

That's where I am now... Got more plans but need to finish the chop first.

That's looking less and less like a family car especially chopped. Hope there is still a wife and kid somewhere! FWIW,I brought my 1st daughter home from the AF hospital while we were stationed in FL in My 48 long door. Loved that car, installed a 58 283 in It in the auto hobby shop with a adapter from Honest Charlie in front of the original 3spd. worked well although there were no Interstates then so highway speeds were just short bursts.

We are a short family! Haha! The 46-48 fords are quickly becoming my favorite cars!! With a completely stock running gear it should be the perfect driver.

  21. The chop looks great. Terrific flow in the roof. Anymore ideas on what grill you are going to use?

I am horrible about taking pictures. I have a few... But all I can tell you is don't try and cut corners or make compromises. I did and ended up doing way more work in the long run. Here are a couple of the rear section ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1410096190.264502.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1410096206.313893.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1410096217.332449.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1410096235.497385.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1410096252.164035.jpg

Here it is with a quick prime job to get a better look at the flow. I really want to have this car as a driver next summer... Gonna be a long winter.
