Wow, that´s a great truck! The stance is mean!
My next Hot Rod will be nailhead powered aswell, I already have a 401 and 425 under the bench... still need the rest of the car, hahahaha

  3. Can you share a little more on the specifics on the Nailhead? Bore? Cam? Anything special with the heads? I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of numbers it puts out on the dyno!

Great looking truck. The dash stopped me in my tracks. Hope you get it on the road soon. BTW interested in your avatar. I'm going to a vintage airshow this weekend (ww1 era ). What is that in your avatar?

  6. IMG_3536.jpg I'm flying a WWI replica SPAD, 80% scale, no plans, not a kit, scratch built, took me 3,000 hours, thank you for your interest.

  7. El Hueso: The engine is a 54 Roadmaster 322, we went .030 over which puts it around 327 cu in, the cam is basically stock cam that was reground by Berry Cam Service, Minnesota. All internals are new, the heads are stock with all new stuff. I don't expect a lot of HP, but think it will be a great engine, given the low torque these put out. I changed the rear end from 3.70 to a 3.08, with the 350TH tranny it should cruise real nice. Should dyno the engine is a week or so, I'm finishing the wiring now.

The chassis is finished, bled the brakes last evening, everything is new or rebuilt. Still waiting on the engine to be dyno'ed, should be any time now. Got the new tires and wheels on.

Nice truck, keep pictures coming. I understand the grandson thing. I bought a 69 Mustang convertible when my grandson Cole was 16 months old and put it in his name. He will be 7 soon and tells everyone what kind of car he owns.

DSCN9352.JPG DSCN9345.JPG DSCN9345.JPG Just got home from Mankato, we ran my new (1954) Buick engine for the first time this evening, it was dyno tested by Steve Wenzel, it runs and sounds great, made my socks roll up and down. this engine will be at home in my 31 Model A. I'm as happy as a little girl!! DSCN9352.JPG

Your project is really coming along and everything looks so clean. Even the photo's of your shop tell a great deal about the quality of the workmanship you are doing.

Keep posting whenever you get time.

pickup is looking great! can't say there's anything i dislike about it other than where it's parked; think my garage is too small for another A, though :D

  21. Got the Model A on the road, 1400 hours of labor in 14 months. Running great, still has that Buick rear main oil leak, not too bad but annoying. I'm lov'in this motor, sounds great and DSCN9463.JPG DSCN9464.JPG lots of torque, changing to the 3.08 rear end makes this so much better on the highway, no strain at all. This is a HOOT to drive. Very happy with this build.

  25. I have been driving it most every day, 300 miles last week, still working the small things out. The Buick is performing well, very happy with that motor.

  27. Appreciate the comments, at 69 years old I'm glad I can still turn a wrench and my brain tells me the correct way, life is good.

  29. Just got my Model A finished and I'm not happy with the free play in the 41 Ford cross-steer gear. I've got 1-1/2 to 2" free play in the 13" steering wheel, just not enough control @ +70m mph, not too bad at a slower speed but I need a tighter gear. I've disassembled the box and adjusted it as much as I could, is there any hope for this set-up? I really wanted to use this gear, I wanted this to be a build like we did in the 60's, we didn't have the Vega stuff. I hate the thought of welding on my newly finished frame, especially since the car is now on the road. Any ideas?

the Unisteer rack and pinion set up is supposed to help the bump steer problem. I have a model A with 1940 Ford cross steering and have thought the Unisteer might be the way to go. I just don't want to give up the old school hardware. check out www.unisteer.com
