Projects Opinion Needed

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by ct1932ford, Aug 29, 2014.

  1. Well I have been getting a little restless lately and thought about changing the look of the roadster. So in the basement I went to get the hood and parts that go with it. I put the side panels hardware on and stuck the one side on the car and pulled it out of the garage. So I ask my wife what do you think? And she looks at the 32 and says about what? I say the hood on the car:cool: She says what about ito_O Then I have her look at the other side. Oh:p Anyway I can't make up my mind. I hate to cover that Flathead:cool:. What do you guys /gals  Think?

I'd go with no hood... More raw of a look and think that helps the car a ton.

Wish that roadster was mine and you had a feather up your ass. :)

If it was anything other than a flatty I would say full hood. Nice car. Maybe tops like alchemy said.

    I VOTE no hood....

  8. I agree with Ryan. The no hood look works better for the car.

I'd go with a full hood and put some fenders on while I had the tools out.

I prefer '32s with hoods period. The flathead is pretty which is why you can open the hood to look at it. No one removed the hoods on the dry lakes. The beautiful streamlined form is broken up when you remove the hood. If you've got a Hemi or a massive OHV spilling out of the sides and are aiming for the dragster look go ahead leave the hood off.
If you can't make up your mind you could leave it as it is in the pictures!
@49ratfink. I agree - but the roadster and probably most 5Ws look as good as or even better fenderless. I think roadsters, 5Ws and Vickys look best without fenders and the rest fully fendered.

At a minimum the hood top to protect that flatty.

I figure with the color, the folding top, the wires and the flathead this would be a good car for full fenders.... maybe even a luggage rack and cowl lights.

    I like it better without.

  18. You really only need a hood if you're trying to hide a SBC.

No hood fits the hot rod premise. You strip parts off fenders, hood, etc. to get rid of weight. Looks better that way.

  21. I did try the hood tops and I definitely did not like that. Right now I'm thinking maybe hood for the fall/winter and no hood spring/summer. Like Ronnie Roadster said I probably have too much time on my hands. Thanks Guys!

For me.....if you remove the top then no hood.......with the top.....full hood.
Hmmmmm....kinda like my avatar only a '29 and I have a flatty in it but nowhere near as fancy as yours.

Run it with the hood on for awhile.....see how you feel about it....you can always remove it.

  25. While I agree that it would look better with full fenders and hood, that is not the style you are going for. So if you are going fenderless, I think it looks better without the hood.

Top up, hood on. Top down, hood off.

Full hood looks great on a no fender deuce. You didn't ask but I think smaller head lights would look nice.

No hood, and loose the rag top too. As stated earlier, leave the hood for the sbc bros.
