In post #7 you show a car in front of a metal gate. Can you tell me what size, and brand the wide whites are and where you bought them? Thanks. John

I'm not a mind reader, so as Alex Trebek would say, "can you please be more specific?" :)

The tires on my Ford are Goodyear 6.70-15 Super Cushion whitewalls. I chose them because it is the same tire Barris ran on many of the "famous" Mercs, including Sam's '49 and the Hirohata. (Well, they ran 7.10s, but you can only get the 6.70s now). Call my friend Becky at Classic Whitewall Tires in Orange and tell her Rob sent you: (714)769-4800 or visit their website @ www.classicwhitewalltires.com

These are '51 Oldsmobile 98 quarter panels on the back of a '49 Ford- copy of the original Buster Litton Barris Kustom Ford

    Thanks!

Made some progress on this Merc today. Did the head lights last week, but wheeled some panels to fill in the parking light areas. Rounding the hood corners next :)

Got quite a bit done on the black Merc...new rockers, patched and straightened the quarter panels, trimmed the skirts, started fitting the Dodge front bumper. Kustom grill and rear bumper coming up soon ☺

This '50 Ford is ready for body and paint work...just finished chopping down the stainless window trim and lowering the seats. Chopped it a while ago and have done a lot of continuous metalwork.

Octavio and I made a metal skeleton for his top and glassed it in. He had a 49-51 Merc fiberglass Carson top that had a great shape, so we shortened it 8" and trimmed the edges to fit his 49 Ford.

The dark metallic plum was my idea based on wanting a color similar to the Wally Welch and Ralph Testa Mercs. My friend Octavio worked as a painter at the local Ford dealership, so he went through the color options available and helped me decide on a newer paint. However, when it was sprayed, they toned down some of the blue in it and it looks a lot better.

Awesome looking shoebox!! Love the color, the flow of the chop and the overall stance of the car. Are the bags out of it in these last pictures? If so, what suspension mods did you make to achieve the final stance?
