So it doesn't stand straight up when you get in it when it's not connected to a tow vehicle for one thing and another reason on most of them is....you can't have the door and the fender in the same place.

image.jpg I have a factory built tear drop that I started rebuilding. The manufacturer was Tripper. So far I haven't seen another one or found any info on the company. Looks like it was from the 40s era.

Here is a pic of my "rustic" teardrop. It is a Jim Dandy style with the galley in front. Originally built sometime in the 40's but the siding and roofing are only about 4 years old. If you want more pics or are interested in buying send me a pm.

kampmaster.jpg Hot Rod Don, I see you mentioned canvas sides in your post. That was the way they were made back in the 40s/50s. There were plans in an old Mechanics Illustrated and Kampmaster sold them complete. Too bad you're not in my neighborhood, I have an old one that needs restored.

Good idea. That extra 6" is a perfect compromise, in my opinion.

Great thread, many nice trailers. I have a 36 Mullins, orig frame, glass body, a 52 Bellwood canned ham, and a 64 Aladdin. Just did a trip with the 64 behind my 49 F 1 pickup. Western Colo. Moab Utah & headed to Bonneville til it got rained out. Lotta fun & good response from people asking about the old setup. However, I have encountered some insurance concerns. Anybody on here have coverage and no B S from the ins. co.? I would like to find a company that understands this stuff.

I have not checked into insurance but would think that Grundys or other specialty insurance could do the job with an agreed value policy. Jim Ford

The teardrop is going to get refinished on the outside and the windows fixed. The plan is to take a trip in August with fastrnu to Bonneville and some Route 66.

I believe this to be a factory built (or nice home built)... ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1452348762.518442.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1452348824.860023.jpg
