  11. When you get to my age, traditional means bangers & flatheads. I've seen a bunch of flatties. Even a couple of Ardun conversions, but only a few bangers. And how about a couple of Wayne 12 port GMC's ? Surely someone has one of those laying around their shop. Anyway, my banger. Excuse the plastic jugs over the Scott tops. They keep dust out when it's sitting.

  12. Don't know how to post pics, but you can see my engine in my Avatar.

You think two six cylinder Chevys are cool? How about four BBCs? normal_Scans_12070003_2.jpg

When I used to go to Auto-Rama, I loved seeing the engines and sometimes the whole car with all the bolt and screw heads clocked. Does anybody still do that?

  20. Bill Harrah and his restoration team were famous for that, Fred- I remember my dad showing me a pre-Teen Packard Of Harrah's that had every slotted screw lined up when I was a kid.

  21. Mutt, dad sure has a swell setup...I believe that's the first time I've seen a "high speed" distributor cap on an A distributor. Dig that "police head" too!! And is that an Echlin coil I spy?

    Thanks!

Really? That was one of the first things I had him order when he bought the car, you cant get much lamer than the stock straps. I'm new to the world of 4-Bangers, what do you usually see then on?

He recently bought that engine to replace the one that was in the car. The previous owner was installing a Pinto engine in his. The guy really put a lot of work/money into that engine. It's also got a touring cam & lightened flywheel to go along with the police head. Yes that's an ancient Echlin 6 volt coil I found on eBay and was fortunate to be the only bidder.

Here's a shot of the whole car in case you are interested:

  28. Sweet little A! I'm pretty sure I've only seen the "high speed" caps on B distributors. That's what I'm running in mine (with a hand-operated fuel pump, I didn't want to mess with the manual spark advance).
