We took the new 331 cu. in. Y block up to the dyno last Tuesday. It was fun and stressful at the same time. Typical dyno day. We played with a few things trying to get it ready to stuff into the 64' Falcon. dyno2lowres.JPG dyno1lowres.JPG

  2. This is making me want to throw the 302 that I'm swapping in my '56 into the garbage. Numbers?

Fantastic numbers for an "obsolete" old war horse. Anything under 3,000 pounds I suggest taking a change of underware with you for the first trip to the drag strip.

Now that's awesome. Any more pics of that fabricated single plane manifold? That's nice work!

Turning a Y block 7k is impressive enough, the numbers are just showing off. Thums up! Btw that manifold looks killer.

  13. I really like how you came up with that manifold design which is Y block specific. My hat is off to you.

The pushrods are Smith Bros. .080" wall chromalloy. , 5/16 ball at the bottom for the TREND tool steel lifters.

  22. Wow, love it when that sort of power is made with the old Y block! I bet some people will look look twice when they see under the hood...
1.7 rockers and .600 lift, I think you have a secret weapon in there..

  23. Wow, congrats John, You did good !!!

So it's a 292 truck crank then? I suspect your heads are mostly responsible for the impressive numbers...combined with the matching cam/intake of course.

I wish I could afford a pair of those heads for mine.

  28. Very impressive I've been dreaming about a 4-71 blown Y-block. Any video of it on the dyno?

No video. Have about a dozen pics and bunch of dyno info. 22 pulls in one day. But definitley worth doing. Dyno's are nothing but good information.

  30. Hey John, do you have any plans to manufacture enough of those 1.7 rockers to sell?
there is only so much valve lift to be had with the 1.54,s .. its got to be a good thing to keep the cam lobe lift smaller
and achieve more valve lift by changing rocker arm ratio.
