I am thinking about dragging this one out of the weeds and give it a good beating on the 1320 next year. P4200001.JPG

I am sure it will tag along. Got a couple buddies that I will let fight over the driving duties in Shamu.
I would like to do the head and cam swap but not sure these boys are ready for that.(they talk big )

Man,if that's how it ran with two different cylinder heads and a cam you had laying around,it would be an absolute weapon with some worked over heads and a cam spec'd out for your combo.
You had her cookin' pretty good Brother!:)

Thanks Scott! It was a blast! Can't wait to do it again! Ric's reaction still makes me smile every time I watch it! He had to suffer through all the tune-up/sort-it-out passes. I think Saturday night we finally got enough sleep that we both had the same "Aha moment" Sunday morning and made the magic turn of the dial. When Ric says "It's clean, it's gonna go fast" in the video, I was thinkin' the same thing in the car and prepared myself to get thrown back in the seat and knew I had to be ready to grab 2nd gear! I think we were all relieved that it finally ran a respectable number, Ric's reaction pretty much said it all! Too bad it waited until Sunday to start actin' right! But Sunday is better than Monday! Maybe the car's got stage fright and was overwhelmed by all the people and cameras on Saturday. Regarding what you and Dave were sayin', Sunday definitely seemed to have a more low key & relaxed feel to it. It was nice to pull into the lanes and only wait 5-10 minutes to make a pass. Plus, we finally had time to hang out with you, your Dad & Tom. Great time!!! I'm glad we perservered and got the car working and made some good passes on Sunday.

    Marc,
It really was kinda magic when it all came together wasn't it?:)

And I agree....Saturday felt like there was a bit of pressure, partially due to the lanes being so packed, partially due to the 5000 fans, and partially due to the dozens of hired guns shooting for Hot Rod Deluxe,Bangshift.com (Thanks for the three shots of the Shaker that made it up,I've said it before and I'll say it again Greg:You Rule!) and all the other magazine,tv,and internet coverage.
It was still a blast though...

....But Sunday....Sunday the crowds started to go home, and not only was the even just for the racers by mid day Sunday, but guys like Paul Koop and Jeff,AJ,and the rest of the MDA got to finally catch their breath and hop in the cars and make some passes and enjoy the event the had worked so hard at making the amazing time that it was for the rest of us.

I have to admit, meeting you,Soloman, and Jason was fantastic, but there was something a little surreal about meeting Ric.
Some of those Hot Rod articles from the early 90's with the blue Chevelle are what REALLY got me silly about cars,so in a way your Brother is partly responsible for me being here at all...
The hospitality you guys showed my Dad and I will never be forgotten, and it went a long way toward making it the best weekend my Dad and I have ever shared.

Thanks Marc. You guys are really fantastic folks:)

And we look forward to seeing the Panneton family and Yesterday's Child back and loaded for bear next year! :D

When you guys swung by the pits to say hello I couldn't have pried that big Ol grin off your face with a crow bar!
I'm guessing it was closer to your top one...? :) lol

Thanks so much for coming by and saying hello,I had been looking forward to meeting you,and your whole crew was having just as much fun as you.:)

Looking forward to spending more time hanging out with you guys next year, and less time under my car or hawking Hemi parts in the swap meet area....lol!

Next year is all about racing all day and hanging out with a great bunch of folks when the racing stops for this cat!:D

It was great meeting you guys too,and finally seeing the car I have been ogling via the net for so many months.:)

Like I said when we met, your car is just so "right" looking, and executed so incredibly well to replicate that era we all love.If I had to pick the car that pushed me over the edge to letter mine up,without a doubt it was your car, hands down.:)

And not only does that Ol Goat look like a million bucks, but it is a nightmare for the car in the other lane!:D

Thanks, Scott. We, can't take all the credit, our Dad helped a lot in getting us hooked in the hobby. He also was a influance on what looked right and wrong on the car along the way. Best to listen to him, he was at Byron when these machines went down the track the first time around!!

    I totally agree:)

My Dad gave me a couple Super Stock magazines he had from the early-mid 60's when I was a kid,and there was an early Chevy II that was sponsored by the Aladdin Casino in Vegas......stack injected 427 rat motor set way back into the firewall, car was gutted to reduce weight, straight front axle, cool graphics.....I have been trying to shake the image of that car for decades.....Then,after seeing so many killer Chevy II's at the Meltdown Dad says he wants to build one!:)

I am pretty stoked about this!:)

He's talkin hairy small block/4-spd/deep gears/gutted/maybe a little rough around the edges and a little more "strip" than "street".....Mission accomplished!:)

He'll be looking for a car when he heads down to Arizona this winter:)

Some great shots in that set. You take some great photos that have better angle shots than normal.

    Scott-

Unfortunately my guess is that next year you will spend more time figuring out how to get that pony to go just a little faster...you will probably be removing all the weight you can...you might even have to resort to letting Marc drive it to try and make a respectable run...uh...sorry Ric!

Well shit guys I was thinking about trying to get another notch in the belt on the chevell.
I guess against my general rule of not spending money (because I dont have any) on my car I will dig through my bag of tricks and throw some money at charger and see what left in it.

62Furious you better get to work unless you like the look of that big ol tail light.

I decided this morning I'm done screwing around with an old 150,000 mile, stock bottom end time bomb.

I'm gonna throw together a fresh short block for next year's event, add a little more cam,a little more carb,a little more gear in the 9".....

......And then we'll be seeing how the "Brokie Smoker" likes to play follow the leader...;)
