image.jpg Sunday I was outside in the driveway working on the old Caddys and a guy pulls up and asks me if I would be interested in an old 53 something car that was abandoned on his property. He said all the glass has been broken out and it's was rusty. Sure I said. He gave me directions to where it was. Turned out to be a 54 Chevy pickup.

image.jpg image.jpg I guess his idea of rusty and mine are two different things. But he was right about the glass....every piece of glass is busted out.

Cleaned the points, dropped in a battery and a squirt of fresh gas and it started right up!
I crawled underneath to drain the old gas and saw new master cylinder, hoses, lines , shocks and wheel cylinders. It has fairly new tires but someone shot holes in two of them.

Thanks....he said just get it off his property and I could have it for the trouble. I just need to put a new ignition switch and clean the carb and it should be good. Looks like I have a new parts runner.

Not stolen.....he knows who it belongs to and he has sent several certified letters to the guy and he won't respond. So it's considered abandoned and I can get a title.

That is a sweet score! Crazy how rust free it is after sitting in the woods with no glass. I would get it dependable and drive it as is, well with more glass in it anyways. Awesome score and keep us updated!

Goodluck with the title. They recently changed the law in Texas. I wouldn't tell them the word abandoned at the tax office. Go the bonded route

Good thing you weren't working on a Prius in your driveway.

They change the law every 6 months. I've done this 3 times already this year. My buddy owns a title service but it's still not cheap. You should never deal directly with the tax office in situations like this.

That's the plan after I have a title. I just need some glass, a couple used tires and a seat. Then I'll use it for chasing parts around town.
