  2. That looks the business Eric, love the way the black and that super nice chassis color go together. Totally cool and you must be so stoked. JW :)

There is something terribly satisfying about that final bolt up!

Usually, but not always. If you're coming down I'll make it a point to be there.

No kidding! Once parts are painted and being put back together you can ACTUALLY see a car coming together. It's like the light at the end of the tunnel!

Cowl metal work is finished, has a few skim coats of filler now. Haven't seen it since last weekend but here's the latest pic I have. I may have already posted it. Gimme a shout soon, we need to connect!

Thanks Larry! Yes, he's built a paint booth into his shop. It's roughly 12' x 12', big enough to paint a hot rod body but not a whole car.

Here are a few more pics from last weekend that I haven't posted yet. Bolts are Cadmium plated Grade 8, they get polished before final install and stay looking good forever.

Also, if anyone needs a seat riser let me know. It's not in the best shape, but might work in a pinch or for patterns.

We will be there! If it were just me, I'd drive the roadster in a second. Five of us, we'll drive the van and flat tow the roadster.

Awesome, we'll be there then. Might bring my shoebox if I can get the engine knock and brakes sorted out.

However nine of my 11 kids are here. They seem to be a little preoccupied to visit with me, LOL.

I'd tell you I'm ending their addiction, but I have my phone in my hand on the HAMB. Since I'm done posting everyone gets to put theirs away too!

Quick update, not much to report but still moving forward.

More parts painted in base/clear. Master cylinder, steering box and rear shocks.

    Some hand fabbed rod ends.
    1403918921799.jpg

Modified king pins, assorted hardware and more grade 8 bolts to polish. 1403918971337.jpg

    Front spring painted and assembled.
    1403919108419.jpg

And the frame pretty much the way you saw it last.

We did finalize the ivory color that the wheels and firewall will be. I dropped off the sample to the paint store this afternoon and they'll have it mixed for us Monday morning.

Looking good Daddio. Keep it up. It will get done. Just got mine on the road but still needs interior. Maybe I will get that done in another five years the way I move. Mark.

Not much to report as Bob's wife had her knee replaced early in July. As such, Bob has been busy playing "wet nurse" and helping her recover. The surgery has been scheduled for months so we knew progress would stop during this period. She's doing well and Bob is hoping to return to the roadster this week.

I mentioned a while ago that I decided on running a 200R4 (or 2004R if you prefer). That's been secured, but not without a little blood. My trans guy broke it down and cleaned it thoroughly and I picked it up. Because of the significant amount of flashing it was like picking up a 40 lb porcupine. No stitches required, but I chose to smooth it out some. Of course it will never be seen, so who cares, right? We're hot rodders, we do. So I spent about 45 minutes on it with several flat, half round and round hand files to clean it up some. No sharp edges left and the paint will lay out better without all the garbage on it. I only took one picture after about five minutes of work. It's since been delivered to Bob and he'll cover it in maroon paint before it goes back to my trans guy.
    200R4.JPG

My can of OneShot Ivory was a perfect compliment to the maroon paint, so I painted several square inches on a panel and had my paint store match it. A half gallon has been delivered to Bob so he can paint the wheels and the firewall when he's ready.

And in the meantime we've located another home to purchase. Small three car garage but plenty of room for a shop and pool with over a half acre. Shop and pool should be started sometime this winter if all goes well. Thanks for following along!
