IMAG0456.jpg Left is a Blue Flash made by Connecticut Tel. & Elec. Corp.
The middle and right are Thermo Deep River Mfg Co.
The middle one reminds me of Robby the Robot from Lost in Space

Judson "electronic" coil. You can hook it up like a regular coil and run it

  6. I have a Mallory C 5000 like the upper left photo in post 5. Does it matter which way it is mounted? Looks like it should be mounted with the wires down. Any idea on when these were made.

Thanks EV88F. I did some research and found the original 1962 installation instructions too.

  10. @Carter, this is all your fault. After you ID'd those coils in our photo thread as DSMs and posted up pics of yours, I had to have one. The wife happened to look over my shoulder as I was admiring them and next thing I know one shows up at my door :)

Haha, glad I could be of assistance! Yours is a bit nicer than mine, though.

@62pan , Ken, I don't think anyone answered your question yet. If I remember, I had mine mounted ceramic up, but I'd have to look back through my build thread pictures to be certain. I can check to see if the instructions were still in the box mine came in, I think they may be. If so, I'll let you know if it says anything about mounting position.

...and the pre-war Mallory-Holley "Master" that will be replacing it:

This coil was given to me by an old friend when I worked at the dealership.
He was a drag racer in the 60s and 70s
    And has since pasted away.

BigD, can you give a quick description of how you altered your coil? I've been considering different ways to hide my blaster's mildly modern looks.

nothing really special, filko was just a big aftermarket replacement parts company, im sure it was just a stock replacement coil, with a cool label
