We participated in the Sugar Valley Rally over the weekend in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. This is a great event held the first weekend in June every year. The event is a Vintage Car Rally, similar format to the Great Race, but much shorter (and less expensive) and runs in SW Nebraska and into Wyoming, covering about 350 miles for the three day event. We finished the Trophy Run on Friday in 9th place overall, 3rd in our class. We had a tough day during Stage 1 on Saturday, finishing with a 38 Second day, which put us 12th overall, 5th in our class. We had better luck on Stage 2 on Sunday, finishing with 13 seconds, which advanced us to 8th overall and 2nd in the Unlimited Class in the final standing. The picture is at the finish line, where we are about to receive our score sheet. Great People, well organized and managed rally, and a heck of a lot of fun!

Drove mine around 100 miles on Sunday...Wore me out need to figure out the overdrive t5 swap. Is there anyone in MD that knows a bunch about bangers? My car seems to vibrate a lot and I am trying to figure out if I am pushing it to hard or if I have a legitimate problem since Im new to the banger world.

June 2014 sees the second outing of the land speed racing at Pendine Sands, South Wales, UK - the latest Rodders Journal has a piece on last years and there were lots of posts here last year (September 13) when the first reiteration of this historic event was run.

My stock as a rock save for twin 94's 4 banger (in a 32 roadster), which was barely recommissioned at the time, ran 72mph. The car hasn't run much since but has got head gasket problems (water in oil), so hopefully i'll be running again - who knows what speed we'll get this time!

  18. What else do you have in your banger besides the 94's and do you have a pic?

I have one of each and the T-5 is a better choice for a touring car...however the '39 3 speed is a lot of fun for stop light to stop light cruising.

I don't post much on the banger threads but my 25 T banger roadster made it's first show at sins of steel and I was proud as hell it made it. Nothing like cruising in a T with A power! I got her up to 58 mph. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1402364590.032429.jpg

  22. Nothing wrong with the 3 speed for around town, but travel anything longer than say 50 miles and its a PITA and feels like you're really straining things to keep up with traffic on the freeway. Also im running a Miller OHC banger thats running north of 100hp and want to use all the go i have :)

^^^ that must be the new Banger block?

Just wondering if any one is running a 9" flathead V8 clutch/pressure plate with there banger or know If any one knows if a after market one with heavier spring is available?

I'm running a 29 lb flywheel with the 9" flatty V8 cluch pressure plate and it slips. I plan on testing to see how many LBS/IN of clamping force this has and replacing the springs with heavier ones but in the mean time I would like to purchase one if possible. Trying to get my B enginge back together by July 12. I have all the parts ready to go. Just need to get it balanced.

I'll bring it up here but post another thread if no on can help. Im running the original 29 banger motor, heads been milled a few times but still stock. Has a Mallory dual point distributor, Stromberg 97 on a burns manifold, and a header. Has an electric fuel pump and regulator set to 2.5psi. Ive had a problem for a while when I run the upper rpm spectrum at full throttle she has what sounds like a rev limiter. Its like a rapid misfire and then as soon as I let the throttle back off a hair its fine. Carb was "rebuilt" by a buddy of mine, has champion 3x plugs and good spark from a brand new 6v coil.

While it sound like a break down in the ignition system under load
I have found simular effects from the power valve in the 97s
as a mechanical system it works between 3/4 and full throttle
the stock 65 jet flows more than most bangers like I find 68 or 70 about right

318 head #2.JPG Here are a couple of pictures of the 318 head going (I hope) on the '26 Dodge bros. The idea was to show the spacer necessary to make it fit on the Dodge Bros. block. 318 head #3.JPG 318 head #1.JPG
