Hot Rods 1934 Ford Roadster version 2.0 is near completion

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, May 30, 2014.

  1. A lot of you guys may remember my 1934 Ford roadster I bought and put on the road as a highboy to drive to Bonneville and then drive away from my wedding a few weeks after that...
Well it all happenedand I have enjoyed driving the car as a stripped down car but it was time to go to the next level. I really wanted to shoot for a mid 50's full fendered look with all the goofiness that the 50's had as well...bumpers, lights, profile. I had all the fenders and everything, so over the winter I and my friends worked on them and also had Paul at Cedar Dale Uphostery in Mt Vernon, WA put a top on it. The top turned out perfect, he did a lot of trimming, cutting and altering of the bows and irons to get the chopped profile perfect. I think Paul is one of the best top guys around if you are looking for a period top.
During the past week I have been fitting everything and getting it all put together for a run happening this weekend. I had a set or 1941 Ford Super Deluxe bumpers chromed and heated/bent the 34 bumper irons to fit. I am not quite done with the back yet but hope to have that done tonight.
I also had the dash nickel plated, it turned out excellent. I mixed it with some NOS 34 gauges and some SW gauges under the dash and it's beautiful to stare at.

So...it's still a primered car but it is a little classier. Primer haters don't worry, I do plan on paint but it may take another year or two to get get to that point. This thing is just a step at a tim as my budget allows. It still needs a bit of body work too. The interior will also get redone as well. For now I will just enjoy it.

I have to thank my friends Darrel, Tim, Logan, Shaun, Pat and Paul, my Dad and Brother...if it was not for their help this thing would not be where it is today.

Enjoy guys, summer is nearly here

These are kind of how the car evolved over winter.

Amazing what fenders and a top can do -- your bumper, headlight, and taillight choices are spot on.
