Glad to see your rides out in the sun, Rick, sure sign of spring. That roadster is from Exeter area? Is that Frank Cuddyer's ride back in the day?

This one was built by Clark Bates from PA. I sold Frank's roadster in 1970 and haven't seen it since..Haven't seen your 40 in person.. maybe at the Hampton NH Airfield Show ?? Dickie said it was NICE !!

Rick, Linda and I are planning to come to airfield show. I thought you had Frank's roadster at one time, didn't know if this one was it or not. Nice looking ride, I saw it at the Hot Rod Reunion.

That Lincoln was a rust free basket case from Long Island. Dick's late brother Lee was building it. Has aluminum corvette front and rear suspension, fresh 454" with a six speed, a real cruiser. Lee was a quality control engineer at the Naval shipyard and a real fuss budget about detail. Undercarriage is beautiful. The car just needs final fit/finish and paint. I suggest some of that three stage pearl that some Jap cars had, something elegant.

A trip down memory lane for the Kustom Kings. Back in the 80s when Conn Dragway closed, 1985 I think, the CSRA brought their nostalgia drags up to NED for one year. They decided that it was too far from their home base in CT to keep doing it so Dick and I talked the club into becoming the sponsor. By that time the Kustom Kings had some national press coverage in some second tier magazines that featured custom cars. So for three years we did the nostalgia drags at NED, I have all three dash plaques on my tool box. But as a custom club, we had trouble getting the club to get behind the event and after the third event, we offered it to the MA Street Rodders who started their Draggin-in-the-50s, which continues to this day. Back then it was the only game in town for nostalgia at NED but now of course they do I think four events a year. One tidbit is that the Hot Rod Reunion we all attended and enjoyed last Fall was NOT the first time Hot Rod Reunion at NED! Here is a picture of the tee shirts we had back in the late 80s, done by Gene Brown's tee shirt shop in Portsmouth. At that time we sold the tee shirts all year up to the actual drags to raise money for the club, recieving no money from the track. Gotta wonder if this is the only one of the tee shirts left? 002.JPG
