Today, they shut it out... No more print magazines will be published under the Rod & Custom Magazine masthead. Not surprising, but pretty damned sad.

Dayum! Haven't had the print edition in years but the Kindle edition (of the print mag) is something I looked forward to every month.

that sucks. I sold my 30 year magazine collection a few years back, the only ones I kept were all my Rod & Customs.:(

  6. Man,that is truly a bummer,I have always been a big fan of Rod & Custom even when it lost some of it's luster but then it was shut down only to resurface again,,hopefully that will be the case. HRP

Subscribe on line??? I don't think so. I don't want to take a lap top into the crapper.......just not the same.

Guess I'll just have to re-read the old ones.

Damn. I look forward to getting the mag in the post every month & I renewed a 2 year subscription only a few months ago. I guess if a lot more rodders had renewed their subs it would have survived.

  17. Sad day indeed, I have been buying R&C since I was 15 starting with the June 1997 issue and have been buying the mag every month since January 1998. It has been the only monthly magazine I have bought continuously.:(

  18. I looked in the closet and right there on top of the stack was the Premier Issue,,again.

Seems like it wasn't that long ago but the date is December 1988,that was almost 26 years . HRP 002.JPG

    Really? What a shame..... :(

Is there any news as to why they aren't going to print anymore? is the brand folding? too much cost?

    Take Heart you hooligans!

It'll come back around, just because of the classic name. The name itself is hot property, & people just haven't realized it.

Anyhow, don't rule out another comeback, once the right people hear about this. Reader interest is just low because these cars seem too unattainable, but I guarantee you that guys will keep building cars, because cars = women. :D

They might be different cars from what we expect though, and that could be a good thing.

man that sucks... all the good stuff is gone......whats next......

  26. Really too bad. I always enjoyed Rod & Custom.

Yet, I'm a guilty party. I always buy it off the newsstand, but never found the time or money to pony up for a subscription. Guess that's what happens when plenty of others are doing the same thing...

I don't think it's coming back. Print media is dead. Why pay for content that you have to wait for, and find physical space for, when you can get it for free online and read it on a device you already carry with you everywhere?

If print is going to last, it has to have something remarkable about it. The content in TRJ is an example. Top-tier photography and materials make them collector's items in their own right. Thin paper and huge two-page Harbor Freight ads did nothing to separate R&C from the pack.

    Just sayin'...
