Hmmm...'Telstar'...I pictured a clear Lucite dome top.

    There was a song...

  2. There's a lot I like about Kopperhed, but to my eye the 3 window concept makes for too much metal in the C pillar, and it must be weird/dark to sit in the back seat.

Can anybody Photoshop Kustom7777's paper pattern into blue metal, then put in the "five window hardtop" frames?

playing with the proportions a little more,,,obviously, my photoshop skills are nearly nil,,,but hopefully you get the idea...added in a vent window,,,,added a curve to the bottom rear window opening,,,,shortened the sail panel......starting to like it a bit....by the way,,not sure if i mentioned it previously, but the door will be lenghtened to the black line,,,,it is still really hard to picture with the masking paper and that big hole in the roof,,,but if you squint,,,,, :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!n.jpg

  5. Subscribed...again! I like where you're going, especially with the hardtop concept. I think the Kopperhead is gorgeous, but think keeping the rear side windows does wonders for the proportions.

  6. That's going to make for one looong door, which might be a pain and cause problems with hinges, and I still think the proportions are nicer just making it a hardtop.

  7. I like the proportions before. The three window concept looks "off" in my humble opinion. It's you're car though dude and I'm sure it will turn out rad no matter what!

  9. I think that is a great call, especially if some of the original design cues return. Such a great roof line profile.

I think this version is fine, the kopperhead-style looks like a bit too chunky for my eyes..

018.JPG 020.JPG progress on the roof.....i was finally able to fix that gaping hole in the roof....my solution was a '54 ford roof,,,,,the 54 ford roof dimensions were fairly close,,with less crown than a stock shoebox ford,,,,after some shortening and trimming, i grafted it in place,,,,worked like a charm,,,,,really liking it with less crown in the roof...ignore the "patchwork" sail panel...i will replace it with one piece of sheetmetal at some point...i left it in place to use as a rough template for the new filler piece...

    Looks great!
Just wondering, are you going to fabricate a stationary quarter windows or functional?
I think that Victoria or convertible quarter window parts could work with your project.

I'm totally on board with the de-crowned roof skin swap, looks real nice on there.

thanks everyone,,,,i am planning a 2-2 1/2" section.....the photo in my avatar shows a photoshopped 2 1/2" section,,haven't figured out what i will do on the side windows yet,,my options are: use victoria or convertible stuff and adapt it,,,,build hirohata merc style frames,,,,or one other idea i haven't fully worked out yet in my head.....right now i am trying to decide if i should leave the rear corner of the window opening rounded as is,,,or maybe reshape it to more of a point, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Buster-litton-1949-ford2.jpg the way the buster litton ford was,,,,,,,

top pic shows the change i want to make to the window opening,,ala buster litton ford........bottom pic shows a VERY crude photoshop rendering i did to show the general flow and proportion i'm going for,,,,,i still have some surprises up my sleeve,,but this is a fairly accurate representation..............

  27. Looks great, Jim. How about bubble skirts?

  28. Some 57 ford trim would look good on the car I bet.

I still think the radius rear matches the car better. Every inch of those cars is curved including the fenders, roof and trim. If you add the fins to this one also, the leading edge of the fins are rounded also.
This is just my opinion and mine are not always worth the damn. :)
Just keep at it this time.
