Round Up Rookies

Round Up Rookies

If you are coming to the Round Up this weekend, you just have to accept that ya can’t do it all. There is just so much going on at any given time that you have to prioritize your whereabouts… Seems like it gets more and more challenging every year, but don’t fret Round Up rookies as I got your back.

The first and most obvious stop during your weekend is the Continental Club. It’s the hot rod mecca of Austin, the show HQ, and an absolute can’t miss. Grab a beer, kick back, and listen to at least one show while you are in town. You’ll thank me later.

Another stop off you gotta make is for Mexican grub. I suggest Guero’s (just down the road from the club) for their amazing margaritas and can’t miss steak burrito special. This is what Mexican food should taste like.

There is also Roadhouse Relics… an old sign graveyard and museum of sorts ran by the ultra-talented Todd Sanders. Not only is there neat old shit to look at, but Todd’s art is amazing as well. And it’s right in the thick of things in south Austin.

Of course, there are also a ton of bands playing this weekend. Whether you are into traditional country, rockabilly, punk, whatever… there is someone for you to catch and listen up on. That said, there is one group of folks you don’t want to miss. High School Caesar goes on stage at Joe’s (right across the street from the Continental Club) at 8:30 on Saturday night. These guys know how to put on a show and have become a Round Up tradition that you don’t want to miss.

Finally, leave yourself some free time and just enjoy Austin. It’s the best damn city in the country even if we do got a few hippies walking around…
